US Shipyard to Produce GTT's LNG Membrane Tanks

Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), a designer of membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG), via its U.S. subsidiary GTT North America, announced the signing of an agreement with Conrad Shipyard for the future production of LNG membrane tanks using GTT's technology. The signing of an agreement initiates the process of training and preparing Conrad Shipyard, a major U.S. shipbuilder, to offer GTT's membrane containment technologies for LNG storage, transportation and fuel tanks. The training process will include the construction of a membrane tank model to exhibit Conrad Shipyard's manufacturing and installation expertise.

Tugz International to Purchase HandySize Tug

Tugz International LLC, an affiliate of The Great Lakes Group, , entered into a Purchase Agreement for a new HandySize 2,800 hp tug with Red Cape Marine Corporation, a Puerto Rico based company. The tug is a new class of tugboats being constructed in The Great Lakes Towing Company’s new Great Lakes Shipyard facility in Cleveland, Ohio. The tug departed the yard on October 23, 2010 bound for St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. The tug will be used in the Caribbean in the intra-island movement of a 30,000 bbl oil barge. The tug purchase price is confidential. A new more powerful HandySize 3,200 hp tug is now under construction at the Great Lakes Shipyard facility, Cleveland, Ohio, for delivery in April, 2011.

Bender Shipbuilding To Construct 10,000 BBL Oil Barge

Bender Shipbuilding & Repair of Mobile, Ala., has been selected to build a 150 x 60 ft. (45.7 x 18.2 m), 10,000 BBL capacity Well Test Barge for The Hanover Company of Houston, Texas. The barge, which will be built according to ABS class standards for international service, is scheduled to be complete in four months. It will be equipped with pumping, generator and separation systems to perform its well test mission.
