Master Boat Builders Delivers Tug for Seaside LNG/Polaris New Energy

Coden, Ala. shipbuilder Master Boat Builders on Monday announced it has delivered Tortuga, the latest tugboat to join Seaside LNG/Polaris New Energy fleet.Tortuga will connect with the barge Clean Everglades, delivered from Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in 2023, to form a Jones Act compliant articulated tug and barge (ATB) for bunkering liquefied natural gas (LNG).The new tug has an overall length of 109 feet and features two Caterpillar 3512E main engines, EPA Tier 4 certified and each producing 2,000 horsepower.

First of Three New ATBs Delivered for Vane Brothers

The Vane Brothers Company continues to expand its fleet with new vessel construction. This February, the marine transportation company took delivery of the first of three new ATB tugs from the Conrad Orange Shipyard in Orange, Texas. The first boat is the Assateague, and the other two boats will be the Chincoteague and Wachapreague. Designed by Greg Castleman of Castleman Maritime, LLC, located in League City, Texas, each 110-foot by 38-foot tug is being mated to an 80,000-barrel barges designed by Bristol Harbor Group and being built by Conrad Industries of Amelia, La.

Powerful New ATBs for Vane Bunkering

The bold blue “V” logo emblazoned on the green-banded white stack continues to proliferate on American waterways. Vane Brothers Company has been expanding its fleet with new construction. Recently the marine transportation company announced a contract for three ATB tugs to be built at the Conrad Orange Shipyard in Orange, Texas. Designed by Greg Castleman of Castleman Maritime LLC, based in Clear Lake Shores, Texas, the 110-foot by 38-foot tugs will be mated to 80,000-barrel barges designed by Bristol Harbor Group and being built by Conrad Industries of Amelia, Louisiana.

Beacon Finland Appoints Rio Marine for US Support

Beacon Finland, a maritime-related firm engaged in naval architecture, marine engineering and equipment, has appointed Rio Marine to service its JAK-ATB coupling systems in the U.S.   Tuija Horkko, Beacon Finland’s Chairman, said Rio Marine will become the exclusive company to provide 24/7/365 service for its JAK coupling systems for the tug/barge industry. Rio Marine will maintain an extensive inventory of JAK spare parts and will provide service which will include electrical, electronics, hydraulic and mechanical systems. Rio Marine’s President Ronald Dansby also reported that the company will open a new service center in Staten Island, N.Y. to support tugs and barges, as well as JAK systems along the U.S. East Coast.
