GAC Eyes Opportunities in Disrupted Market

Shipping, logistics and marine services company GAC is approaching turbulent global markets with a push for greater innovation and flexibility, according to GAC Group President Bengt Ekstrand. Dubai-headquartered GAC said it has maintained a solid balance sheet despite slumps in key markets such as shipping and oil and gas. During a conference of GAC company managers in Dubai, Ekstrand outlined the group’s approach for the next five years. “Disruptive forces are reshaping our markets almost on a weekly basis but in the process, new opportunities for growth are coming into view,” Ekstrand said.

GAC Hosts Open House at New Facility

GAC is hosting an Open House giving its customers and all oil and gas companies the opportunity to view its new warehouse in the Central Green District of Houston, Texas. The 180,000+ sq. ft. LEED (Leader in Energy and Environment Design) certified cross dock facility includes four acres of outside storage space within a designated Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and is in close proximity to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The new building centralizes GAC USA's local and regional executives, multiple business areas and staff under a single roof at 16200 Central Green Blvd in Houston. The grand opening comes hot on the heels of the GAC Group's new brand campaign that promises to help its customers achieve their strategic goals.

GAC Open Caspian Sea Port Supply Base

GAC Turkmenistan has opened its new Offshore Supply Base & Logistics Support Centre in the Port of Turkmenbashi. The new 11,000 square metre base is designed to further enhance the speed and safety of GAC's marine and logistics services for the offshore sector operating in the Caspian Sea, and will provide employment and training opportunities for the country's people. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently, with President and Deputy Minister of State Maritime and River Lines Aman Gurdov, GAC Group President Bengt Ekstrand and GAC Turkmenistan Base Manager Oraz Kurbanmuradov doing the honours. Built on a plot of 11,000 square metres of land within the port leased from the Ministry of Turkmen Maritime and River Lines, the base has a water front and access to the main road.

Global shipping, logistics & marine services provider GAC Group appoints Bengt Ekstrand as its new Group President. Ekstrand is currently Group Vice President of GAC’s Asia-Pacific region and was previously the head of the Middle East region. "Bengt brings substantial experience in GAC’s core businesses plus an intimate understanding of GAC’s values to the position of Group President," says GAC’s Group Executive Chairman, Björn Engblom. Engblom paid tribute to Capt. Säfverström for his successful management of the GAC Group’s worldwide expansion.
