Searcher Seismic Acquires Triok

Searcher Seismic, in cooperation with BGP, has completed the acquisition of the Triok broadband non-exclusive 2D seismic survey in the Northern Basins of Papua New Guinea.Following the acquisition of the Solomon Sea non-exclusive 2D in the northern basins of Papua New Guinea, the Triok broadband non-exclusive 2D seismic survey consists of 3,845 km (2,389 mi) of 2D long-offset, high-resolution, broadband seismic and offers regional coverage of the Cape Vogel basin and Huon Gulf.Andrew Weller, Asia-Pacific Manager for Searcher Seismic, said the survey will be the key to unlock several questions and understanding of Northern Papua New Guinea…

Spectrum Begins Seismic Survey in Argentina

The global seismic survey provider Spectrum, in cooperation with BGP, has started a 20,000-km (12,427-mi) 2D survey in the Colorado and Salado basin offshore Argentina.The 2D seismic survey launched to acquire data for future licensing rounds off South American country.This new program ties with Spectrum’s existing 35,000 km survey that was acquired in 2017 for the ongoing first offshore licensing round.The survey is done in cooperation with BGP utilizing the vessel BGP Pioneer.Data is being acquired with a 12 km streamer with continuous recording to image deep reflection and high fold data. This will support full interpretation from Moho to water bottom.

UAE's Adnoc Awards USD 1.6bln Contract to China’s CNPC

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded contracts worth AED 5.88bn (US $1.6bn) for the world’s largest continuous 3D onshore and offshore seismic survey, covering an area up to 53,000 square kilometres, as the company continues to identify and unlock new opportunities and maximize value from its hydrocarbon resources and deliver on its 2030 smart growth strategy.Adding to the 2D and 3D seismic data already acquired across Abu Dhabi, the new seismic survey will cover an area of up to 30,000 km2 offshore and 23,000 km2 onshore.The contract has been awarded by ADNOC to BGP Inc., a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Company (CNPC)…

Grand Bahama Shipyard Reports Commercial Success

Piracy Offshore Africa: Securing a Continent

The late Nelson Mandela once said: “I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.” At the EU-Africa summit in Brussels last month, European leaders urged their African counterparts to facilitate that dream by shouldering more of the security burden in their countries, both onshore and offshore. The summit coincided with reports of renewed piracy activity in the Gulf of Aden; ongoing attacks on shipping in the Gulf of Guinea, and explosions and mass arrests in Kenya, all serving to underline the scale of that challenge.

Seismic Specialists TGS: Revenue Up, New Survey Contracts

Norway-based TGS, report record high late sales in the fourth quarter of 2013, and inform of four new multi-client surveys: a 3D survey in offshore Northwest Australia, two 2D surveys offshore Madagascar and a 3D survey onshore Alberta, Canada. Based on preliminary reporting from operating units, TGS management expects net revenues for the fourth quarter of 2013 to be approximately USD 270 million, bringing total estimated net revenues for 2013 to approximately USD 882 million.

TGS Charters Additional 2D Vessel Capacity

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA (TGS) has signed a two-year charter agreement with BGP for a 2D seismic vessel to be named the M/V BGP Atlas. BGP is currently outfitting the M/V BGP Atlas with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and is scheduled to deliver it to TGS in June 2007. TGS plans to deploy the vessel initially in the North Sea during the summer season. TGS has the option to extend the vessel contract by two consecutive one-year periods under the same commercial terms. With this agreement TGS has now secured access to three 3D crews and six 2D vessels for all or parts of 2007, enabling the company to continue aggressively expanding its multi-client database.

Chinese Seismic Exploration Require New OBC Vessels

MAN B&W Diesel has added two new reference plants to the fourstroke order book. Complete twin-screw medium speed propulsion packages have been ordered for a twin set of 65 m offshore research vessels. The twins will each be specified and equipped for their very specific operational tasks, i.e. seismic sourcing and seismic recording. The vessels are designated as an OBC Source Vessel and an OBC Recorder Vessel, respectively. The OBC abbreviation refers to ‘Ocean Bottom Cable’ and the actual seismic exploration equipment applied. The design consulting company for this project is Dalian Shipbuilding Technology Research Center Co. Ltd., located in Dalian, China.

The twins will each be specified and equipped for specific operational tasks, i.e. seismic sourcing and seismic recording. The vessels are designated as an OBC Source Vessel and an OBC (Ocean Bottom Cable) Recorder Vessel, respectively. The design consulting company for this project is Dalian Shipbuilding Technology Research Center Co. Ltd., located in Dalian, China. Both vessels will be built by Liao Nan Shipyard, also located in Dalian, and the delivery of the first vessel is scheduled to the end of next year. Operator and owner is BGP/CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), with its fleet mainly based in Tanggu, Tianjin.
