Metal Shark Delivers Pilot Boat to Pascagoula Pilots

Boat builder Metal Shark said it has delivered a 55- by 17-foot welded aluminum pilot boat to the Pascagoula Bar Pilots Association in Mississippi.Designed by Metal Shark’s in-house engineering team and built at the company’s Franklin, La. shipyard, the new Singing River Island is the second Metal Shark pilot boat to join the Pascagoula Pilots fleet. Furuno Debuts Remote Controller and Software

When Furuno added its Black Box system to their NavNet TZtouch family, it provided flexibility for captains that wanted a TZtouch system on larger displays. Shortly after that, Furuno introduced its new line of Multi-touch Marine Monitors that ranged in size from 17-24 inches. Customers then came back to Furuno requesting the added flexibility of viewing and controlling their TZtouch displays from a remote position. While Furuno offers its free “NavNet Remote” app for the iPad, some customers feel there is no substitute for buttons and tactile control.

Kongsberg Seatex announced the launch of a new generation of Blue Force (BF) Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), the AIS 300BF. The unit, which supersedes the current AIS 200BF, offers outstanding secure mode abilities alongside unique AIS receiver sensitivity and robustness – refinements made possible by Kongsberg Seatex’s involvement in a number of pioneering AIS space projects. The AIS 300BF is tailor-made for vessels undertaking demanding coast guard, antipiracy, navy and boarder police operations.

SAILOR 6390/91 Navtex System

The new SAILOR 6390/91 Navtex System from Cobham SATCOM is now available to order. As a black box system, with separate touchscreen user-interface, the SAILOR 6390/91 Navtex System introduces a new approach that Cobham says enhances safety and efficiency, whilst being fully GMDSS compliant as a standalone device or part of a SAILOR 6000 GMDSS Series installation. SAILOR 6390/91 Navtex follows the recently released SAILOR 6280/81 AIS System, as the second product group in a new series of 100% network integrated SAILOR products.

Raymarine Autopilot wins NMEA-BWI Technology Award

Independent panel selects product based on innovation, benefit to boaters, practicality and value. Raymarine took top honors at the 2013 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, winning the NMEA-BWI Technology Award for its Evolution Autopilot. The NMEA event, held at the San Diego Sheraton Hotel & Marina September 25-28, was attended by representatives of leading marine electronics manufacturers, dealers, distributors, media, and others from the United States and abroad. Named runners-up in the Technology Award competition were Nobeltec's TimeZero app (first) and Garmin's quatix marine watch (second).
