GSL Acquires 2 Post-Panamax Containerships

UK-based containership owner Global Ship Lease (GSL) has agreed to acquire two 2004-built, 6,080 TEU Post-Panamax containerships for an aggregate purchase price of $24.5 million and with charters in place to a leading liner operator for minimum 52 months to  maximum 60 months.The vessels, which have bows optimized for fuel efficiency at lower operating speeds, are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year.The vessels are expected to generate aggregate Adjusted EBITDA of approximately $21 million over the term of the contracted charters, assuming the median expiry dates. Lady Washington Opens for Public Visit

Tall Ship Lady Washington will be docked at Jack London Square at the foot of Broadway, Saturday and Sunday, informed a press release from Port of Oakland.Visitors can experience maritime history by taking a vessel tour for a small donation to the floating museum. There are also ticketed sailing trips on San Francisco Bay.Lady Washington was built in Aberdeen, Washington, by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority and launched in 1989. She is a full-scale replica of the first American vessel to make landfall on the West Coast of North America in 1788 and the first American merchant ship to trade in Honolulu, Hong Kong and Japan.In 1787, after the Revolutionary War, she was given a major refit to prepare her for a unprecedented trading voyage around Cape Horn.

Pirate Ship 'Black Pearl' Embarks on Piggy-Back Voyage

Yacht Path Marine Group were contracted to transport the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' 140-ft replica tall ship across two oceans. The 270-ton, 140-foot custom-build pirate ship 'Black Pearl', was loaded aboard a BBC heavy lift vessel in Barbers Point, Hawaii for the three-week voyage to St. Thomas, USVI. The replica pirate ship "Black Pearl" was most famously known for her role in Disney's blockbuster 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, and was constructed over the hull of another vessel, the "Sunset", which was once used to service the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico.

CMA CGM Debuts New Black Pearl Service

The CMA CGM Group launched its new Black Pearl service, a direct service between the East Coast of North America and the West Coast of South America (Panama, Peru and Chile). Diverse Projects: 103-ft Long Range Motoryacht

Diverse Projects' latest vessel Black Pearl was launched on 29 December in Whangarei. Pre-dawn rituals of Takahi (Maori waka launch traditions) and a blessing ceremony started at 5am, followed by the actual launch just before high tide at approximately 2pm. The Diverse Projects team of contractors will now complete finishing touches to the interior of the boat and commence sea trials and system commissioning. Celebrations for the official handover and christening will be held in Auckland on January 22, before the vessel heads off on her maiden voyage in February 2011.
