BMT to Support for UK MOD’s Common Workboats

BMT Group subsidiaries BMT Asset Performance Ltd and BMT Defense Services Ltd will work with Atlas Elektronik UK (AEUK) and its team of suppliers, who announced that it has been awarded a contract valued at £48 million for the supply and support of Common Workboats for the U.K.’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) over a six-year period. Ranging in size from 11 to 18 meters, the multi-role SEA Class vessels share common components and will be modular in design. Innovative Solutions to Global Trends at INEC 2014

The newly launched program for the 12th International Naval Engineering Conference and Exhibition – INEC 2014, being held at the Marine Establishment Amsterdam in the Netherlands (May 20-22, 2014) features an incomparable line-up drawn from over a dozen countries speaking to the theme ‘Innovative solutions to global trends’. The program includes keynote addresses by Vice Admirals of both the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Royal Navy, and, thanks to the support of the Royal Netherlands Navy, a networking and industrial visit program with the innovative HNLMS Tromp at its heart.

BMT Defense Applies NAPA Software in New Vessel Design

Naval design and engineering company BMT Defense Services Ltd. included a software package created by maritime software house NAPA during the design process for the new logistics and support vessel (LSV) ordered by the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO). Naval architects have applied NAPA for Design to the vessel's stability and hydrodynamics modeling to produce a compartmentation model that can provide hull form throughout the design process to production. The model will support the lifetime eco-efficiency of the vessel, either in combination with NAPA for Operations systems and the NAPA Loading Computer, or as a standalone system that provides vital information on the vessel when it cannot be observed.

AVEVA announced that BMT Defense Services Ltd (BMT) has chosen AVEVA Marine software to serve its current and future customers through improved design efficiency. BMT has selected AVEVA Marine to enable tighter integration between its hull and outfitting disciplines, aiming to improve design efficiency through closer collaboration between disciplines. “AVEVA Marine is used by our key clients, and many potential clients, and hence was an obvious choice for us,” said Roy Quilliam, Technical Director, BMT Defense Services Ltd.

New Head of Naval Architecture at BMT Defense

BMT Group subsidiary, BMT Defense Services, announce the promotion of Catriona Savage to the role of Head of Naval Architecture. Catriona joined BMT Defense Services in 1996 and has been integral to the development, team management and maintenance of the company’s structures skill-set for both surface ships and submarines. During her time with BMT, Catriona has developed specialist knowledge in Structural Analysis (including Finite Element Analysis), Ship Structural Design to Lloyd's Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Naval Ships and Submarine Structures.
