Global Maritime take Center Stage @ Danish Forum

The second Annual Danish Maritime Forum, scheduled for October 7-8, 2015, in Copenhagen, brings together a wealth of global maritime leaders to address present and long-term challenges for industry. Discussions at this year’s Danish Maritime Forum are influenced by volatility in global markets and uncertainties about future growth and will focus on how the maritime industry can address these challenges in both the short and long term. Other topical issues will include the New Chinese Silk Road, the global energy outlook and the future of ocean governance.

Drydocks World Chief in Top 50 Maritime Greats' List

Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman Drydocks World & Maritime world has been recognized by Tanker Shipping & Trade as being among the top 50 most influential people in the tanker industry worldwide & is one of only 4 Chairmen globally to be so recognized. The publications annual survey profiles 50 of the sectors most influential leaders whose range of achievements is broad, covering most, if not all facets of the industry. What is not in doubt is that all those profiled represent outstanding examples of leadership, especially given their achievements against the backdrop of some of the most challenging trading conditions in a generation. The list represents leaders from 21 countries representing all of the continents & includes 4 women.

Bishop Addresses Shipmanagement at Tanker Conference

Far from getting any easier, management of tankers is certain to get more complex, said Bob Bishop, Chief Operating Officer of V.Ships Shipmanagement, speaking at the Tanker Operator Conference in London this week. With increased regulation and burgeoning media scrutiny on behalf of a cynical public, risks will be greater and risk management will be ever more crucial he said. While Bishop anticipated a gradual increase in third party management outsourcing from the current 15 percent of the world’s tanker fleet, he emphasized that Managers will need to do more to demonstrate control, performance and value to clients in order to win new business .

V.Ships Announces Senior Management Appointments

Roberto Giorgi, a member of the Board of the V.Ships Group, will take over as Chief Executive Officer of V.Ships Inc., which covers all shipmanagement activities of the Group, effective mid January 2003. Giorgi has worked for V.Ships since 1974, prior to which he was a serving officer on board cargo and cruise vessels. Since joining V.Ships he has managed both the Group’s New York office and Monaco office and been at the forefront of all major developments in recent years. Giorgi’s new appointment will take effect following the planned retirement of Peter Cooney in mid January. Peter Cooney’s experience and talent will not be lost to the Group as he will continue to assist V.Ships in its strategic development in a non-executive capacity.
