Lyman-Morse Builds Workboat for the University of New Hampshire

Thomaston, Maine based Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding announced it has built and delivered a new workboat for the University of New Hampshire.The new 33-foot-long aluminum landing craft was commissioned by the university's School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering for work in its aquaculture research program in the Gulf of Maine.Operators can land the boat on rocky beaches without damaging the hull, while the wide-open bow functions as a stable and uncluttered work, cargo, or passenger space.

New Hanover County Orders Fire Boat from US Watercraft

Hubert, N.C. shipbuilder US Watercraft said it has been selected by New Hanover County to build a custom 30-foot aluminum fire/rescue vessel. Now under construction, the vessel will be delivered in early 2023.Located in southeastern North Carolina, the county has 31 miles of shoreline on the mainland and barrier islands, with communities facing both the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean.In addition to fire-fighting capacity, the aluminum catamaran will feature an hydraulic bow door for deploying a rescue ATV.

Putnam County FD Orders Pair of Lake Assault Fireboats

The Putnam County Fire Department, located midway between Atlanta and Augusta, Ga., has purchased two identical Lake Assault Boats craft scheduled for delivery later this year. Waco Takes Delivery of Lake Assault FireBoat

The Waco Fire Department has taken delivery of a custom-built Lake Assault Boats fireboat and rescue craft. The new vessel provides a wide range of emergency response services on Lake Waco (a 12-square-mile body of water located within the city limits) as well as a section of the Brazos River that flows through the department’s protection area in central Texas. The craft was purchased through Lake Assault Boats’ listings on GSA Advantage Schedule 84 that includes Marine Craft.A pair of 225 hp Honda outboard engines supplies power for the 26-foot craft.

Armstrong Marine Delivers Catamaran in Nimmo Bay

The M/V Fathom, a 35’ x 13’ asymmetric catamaran, recently arrived at Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort in British Columbia, Canada. A new 32-foot fireboat, named Marine 24, has been delivered to the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District (TDFPD) in Lake Tahoe, Nev. The new craft, custom-built by Lake Assault Boats, has been engineered to respond to a wide range of emergencies including structural and wildland fires, and on-the-water rescue operations. “We are thrilled to have this Lake Assault fireboat serve with the Tahoe Douglas FPD to help protect lives, property and natural resources on one of our nation’s most revered bodies of water,” said Chad DuMars, Lake Assault Boats vice president of operations.

New Patrol Boat Delivered in Minnesota

Lake Assault Boats said it has delivered a 28-foot rescue vessel to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol Unit located in Minneapolis, Minn. Purchased from the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule, the vessel will assist in rescue and recovery operations along the Mississippi River. The vessel is powered by a pair of Mercury Verado 300 hp engines with digital throttle, shift and power steering, as well as the Mercury Joystick Piloting and Skyhook Digital Anchoring systems.

Pair of Fire/Rescue Boats Now on Duty

Boat builder Lake Assault Boats has placed two fire and rescue boats into service with the San Bernardino County Fire Department in California. The versatile landing craft style vessels – one 28 feet long and the other 26 feet long – are equipped to handle a wide range of emergency response scenarios. “Having two of our boats on duty with the San Bernardino County Fire Department is an honor,” said Chad DuMars, Lake Assault Boats vice president of operations. The 28-foot craft is stationed in Needles, Calif. and serves on the Colorado River.

Vessel Aids Fire Emergency While in Final Testing

Lake Assault Boats, manufacturer of purpose-built and mission-specific fire and rescue boats, recently assisted the Superior, Wis. Fire Department in its response to a fire on an ore boat at Fraser Shipyards. At the time, a team from Lake Assault was in the final stages of testing the 28-foot fireboat destined for the City of Newburgh, N.Y. After its assist – by providing a water supply for the Superior FD – the craft was placed into service with the City of Newburgh Fire Department.

Silver Ships Delivers Fire/Rescue Boat

Silver Ships, Inc. has recently delivered a 34-foot custom designed and purpose-built all-welded aluminum fire/rescue boat to the Islip Fire District on Long Island, N.Y. The Islip Fire District’s area of responsibility includes The Great South Bay, communities on Fire Island, the Atlantic Ocean and Fire Island Inlet. This boat will also be made available to other fire districts on a mutual aid basis. The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Islip Fire District wanted an all-welded aluminum boat to ensure the safety and comfort of their crews when responding to, and on scene, of various emergency situations, including fire and rescue, emergency medical, diving operations and the supply of water to land-based units in order to aid in firefighting operations.

MacGregor to Supply Package for RoPax Ferry

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a new contract from the Meyer Turku Shipyard for a complete turnkey delivery of RoRo cargo access and handling equipment for an environmentally friendly RoPax ferry under construction for Estonian ship operator Tallink. The 49,000gt, 212m long liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual fuel powered ferry complies with the latest strict regulations for emission control areas (ECAs) including the Baltic Sea. Norwegian Archipelago Services has bought a second ProZero workboat. The vessel was sold by Tuco Marine in Denmark in close cooperation with Tuco’s Norwegian partner Provide Maritime A/S and was commissioned by Holmestrand Municipality for the Archipelago service. Tuco Marine Sells First ProZero Fast Workboat

Tuco Marine Group says that it has sold its first boat shortly after the launch of ProZero, the new range of boats for the professional market. The vessel was sold in close cooperation with Tuco's Norwegian partner Provide Maritime A/S and was commissioned by Bergen & Omland Friluftsråd for the Archipelago service. The vessel, a ProZero 10.5 DC Archipelago, is from the newly developed ProZero Vesel series. The hull design is based on the well proven hulls from Tuco's Guard Vessel Series. The Guard series has been produced and continuously developed by Tuco since 2002. Everett College to Launch New Research Boat

Everett Community College’s Ocean Research College Academy (ORCA) will launch its new research vesel on November 22 with a celebration at 11 a.m. at the Port of Everett. The dedication of the Phocoena (the scientific name for harbor porpoise, pronounced FOE see nuh) will happen at the port’s travel lift, located in front of ORCA’s classrooms at 1205 Craftsman Way in Everett. The 36-foot Phocoena was funded by a $218,000 grant from the National Science Foundation and built by Bean Custom Marine Fabrication.
