McClain Appointed MD of Braemar Engineering

New Systems From Braemar Saves on DP Trials

Braemar Engineering has introduced a unique new initiative which can save on average 25-35 percent of the costs of carrying out annual dynamic positioning (DP) trials. The system offers savings that hard pressed vessel owners and operators in the offshore sector can utilize to increase their competitive advantage while ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained. “Traditionally these trials are carried out using paper based systems which are time consuming to prepare and complete,” explains Kyle Eddings, Global Manager for DP and Offshore Projects at Braemar Engineering.

FSP LNG Containment System Construction To Begin Soon

The joint venture group FSP LNG BV stated that it is taking the FSP LNG Flat Panel Semi-membrane Prismatic Type B containment system through General Design Approval (GDA) with the American Bureau of Shipping in Houston, and is projecting that construction of the first tank will begin at the end of this year. Formed earlier this year to take the FSP LNG containment system through the general approval process, the group comprises Braemar Engineering, Honghua Group EnTX and Jamestown Marine Metals. In a joint statement, Chairman Zhang Mi, Chairman and President of Honghua Group, and Geoff Green, Managing Director of Braemar Engineering, said that “substantial progress has been made to date, and this is expected to continue going forward”.

Kruszewski Joins Braemar Engineering

Braemar Engineering, the specialist maritime engineering consultancy, today announced the appointment of Chis Kruszewski to the role of Senior Electrical Engineer in its Offshore, DP and FMEA Group. Mr Kruszewski joins Braemar Engineering with immediate effect, bringing with him over 25 years’ experience in high voltage electrical systems, offshore electrical and DP systems, and FMEA analyses. “We are delighted to welcome Chris on board and expand the Offshore, DP and FMEA team,” says Kyle Eddings, Manager of Braemar Engineering’s Offshore, DP and FMEA Group. Braemar Engineering Tests DP Software Tool

(Press Release) Braemar Engineering said its new Second Failure Module dynamic positioning DP software has been installed on a client’s vessel. Kyle Eddings, Manager DP and Offshore Projects at Braemar Engineering, told delegates at the IMCA Asian Dynamic Positioning Conference this week in Singapore that the first Second Failure Module is now undergoing Beta Testing. The Second Failure Module is a  software tool developed by Braemar Engineering that allows a more in-depth understanding of the Dynamic Positioning (DP) System. It enables crew members and operators to study second level failures and understand more fully the effects they will have on the power plant and DP capability, and mitigate those risks in advance.

Texas LNG appoints BNP Paribas as financial adviser for Brownsville LNG project, progresses FERC pre-filing process and completes over 60 percent of front end engineering and Design for facility. Texas LNG Brownsville LLC announced that BNP Paribas has been appointed as financial adviser for the Brownsville project. BNP Paribas will assist Texas LNG in the raising of equity and debt financing for the total capital requirements of the Project, including the execution of definitive transaction documents for achieving final investment decision (FID) and project construction.

Eddings Fills Offshore, DP Role at Braemar Engineering

In announcing plans to restructure its offshore and dynamic positioning (DP) operations in the U.K. and U.S., maritime engineering consultancy Braemar Engineering informs it has appointed Kyle Eddings to a new role within the company. Eddings will now take overall responsibility for global DP and offshore projects, with functions coordinated between Braemar Engineering’s U.K. head oiffice in Maldon, Essex; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Houston, Texas. Eddings joined Braemar Engineering earlier this year as manager of the company’s Americas DP and offshore projects…

Braemar Sub-Licenses FSP Containment System

Braemar LNG BV, the wholly owned subsidiary of Braemar Shipping Services PLC, has issued a sub-license to FSP LNG BV for the design and construction of a new Flat-panel, Semi-membrane, Prismatic-shaped (FSP) containment system, under the terms of the license it holds with General Dynamics NASSCO to utilize its patents in the design and construction of FSP LNG containment systems. FSP technology has been developed for marine LNG transport and can also be used in a range of applications, including Floating Liquefaction (FLNG), Floating Storage Units (FSU), Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU) and LNG marine fuel tanks. The FSP system - a new Type B, LNG containment system - uses flat plate technology to overcome the issues associated with partial filling and sloshing.

Falling Oil Prices Help Boost Braemar Revenues

Braemar Shipping Services said its ship broking division saw an improvement in its performance during the last quarter. The merger in July with smaller rival ACM Shipping also came in as shot in the arm. A strong dollar and weak oil prices are good for business, too, and freight rates, a key driver of revenue, are up in a number of sectors. In an interim management statement the company says that as anticipated, its ship broking division's performance has improved significantly compared with the first half, reflecting the inclusion of ACM and the cost reduction actions taken as it successfully continued to integrate the businesses. “We are encouraged by the progress of the enlarged division,” the company said.

Braemar Named Engineers for Brownsville LNG Project

Braemar Engineering, the marine and LNG technical consultancy arm of the Braemar Shipping Services PLC group, has been appointed as Owner’s Engineers by Texas LNG Brownsville LLC (Texas LNG) for the proposed Brownsville LNG project. The project will be constructed in a deepwater frontage site along the Port of Brownsville shipping channel, South Texas, and is anticipated to export more than 2 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG, with the first shipments planned for export in 2019.

NASSCO Licenses LNG Containment Tech to Braemar

General Dynamics NASSCO and Braemar LNG BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Braemar Shipping Services PLC, have signed a technology licensing agreement for Braemar to use NASSCO’s intellectual property in its design and construction of Flat-Panel, Semi-Membrane, Prismatic-Shaped (FSP) LNG containment systems. FSP is a new multipurpose Type B flat-panel, semi-membrane, prismatic-shaped LNG tank-containment system which uses flat plate technology and a universal joint configuration.

Braemar Engineering in Tie-up with Nigeria LNG

Braemar Engineering  announced that it has been appointed to act as Shipping Consultants to Bonny Gas Transport, the wholly owned subsidiary of Nigeria LNG (NLNG) responsible for the transport of NLNG’s output over the Atlantic to Europe and the Americas. Braemar Engineering will oversee the building of six LNG carriers, from design to delivery, with completion of the project anticipated at the end of 2016. Steel cutting on the first of the project’s LNG carriers took place on April 25 at Samsung’s Geoje shipyard in South Korea.

Braemar Secures World’s Largest FLNG Project

Braemar Engineering, the marine and LNG technical consultancy arm of the Braemar Shipping Services PLC group, announced it has been appointed as Owner’s Engineers for United LNG, LP in the world’s largest floating LNG production project. The project, situated offshore near Venice, Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico, will be the world’s largest floating LNG export project, with three floating liquefaction units projected to export up to 24 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG, commencing in spring 2018.
