Navico Hires Elgie to Lead Americas Sales

Navico, parent company to marine electronics brands Lowrance, Simrad, B&G and C-MAP, announced today that Jamie Elgie has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and chief operating office of the Americas.In his new role, Elgie will be responsible for all sales, marketing and operations activities for the Lowrance, Simrad, B&G and C-MAP brands throughout North, Central and South America.Elgie came to Navico from Wilson Electronics, a manufacturer and marketer of cellular infrastructure equipment based in Utah, where he served as chief marketing officer.

FLIR Systems Elects Two New Directors

FLIR Systems, Inc. announced that Cathy Stauffer and Catherine A. Halligan have been elected to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. The addition of Stauffer and Halligan increases FLIR Systems' Board of Directors to 10 members, eight of whom are independent. Royal Caribbean Names New Senior Vice President

Royal Caribbean International announced the appointment of Carol Schuster to Senior Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Schuster joins the global cruise line with a proven track record and extensive background in building global brands, as well as new market entry, and will oversee all aspects of marketing for Royal Caribbean including brand strategy and positioning; consumer and trade advertising; digital and social media; and one-to-one and loyalty marketing. Most recently, Ms. Schuster ran a global marketing and brand consultancy and spearheaded the launch of U.S. women’s luxury apparel company, Lafayette 148 New York, in China. Prior to that, she held the position of worldwide managing director, Global Brand Management at the advertising agency, Ogilvy and Mather.

Carnival Report Better Than Expected Financial Results

Carnival Corporation & plc reports fourth quarter and full year earnings 2012. Carnival Corporation & plc Chairman and CEO Micky Arison noted that fourth quarter earnings on a non-GAAP basis were better than anticipated in the company's September guidance. Stronger than expected revenue yields combined with lower than expected fuel costs more than offset higher than anticipated operating costs. Commenting on full year 2012, Arison stated, "As a result of the Costa Concordia tragedy in January, the past year has been the most challenging in our company's history. However, through the significant efforts of our brand management teams, we were able to maintain full year 2012 net revenue yields (excluding Costa) in line with the prior year.

Wärtsilä Appoints Group VP

Mr Atte Palomäki (42) M.Sc. (pol.) has been appointed Group Vice President, Corporate Communications, as of March 1, 2008. In this new position Mr. Palomäki becomes a member of the Wärtsilä Board of Management and reports to Mr Ole Johansson, President and CEO. With this appointment Wärtsilä aims to integrate its global corporate communications, brand management, marketing communications and investor relations.

Ambassadors International to Acquire American West Cruises

Ambassadors International, Inc. announced has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the membership interests of American West Steamboat Company LLC and related entities from Oregon Rail Holdings, LLC. Founded in 1995, American West Cruises currently operates two vessels, the 231-passenger Empress of the North and the 150-passenger Queen of the West. Horizon Lines Announces Senior Management Promotions

Horizon Lines, Inc., announced several key promotions and realignments of senior management responsibilities. John W. Handy is joining Horizon Lines as Executive Vice President. Treon Named Marketing Communications Manager at Ashland

Julie Treon has been named manager, marketing communications in Ashland’s Corporate Affairs Department with responsibility for Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, effective June 2. The announcement was made by Martha Johnson, vice president, divisional communications, and director, corporate communications, Ashland Inc. Treon will be responsible for marketing communications planning and execution, including brand management and positioning, product publicity, advertising and collateral material, web content, tradeshows, media relations and related activities. She also will serve on the Ashland Specialty Chemical Leadership Team, which reports to Gary Cappeline, president, Ashland Specialty Chemical Company. “I am excited to welcome Julie to Ashland,” Cappeline said.
