UK Provides Aid for Ferry Operators

Ferry routes between Great Britain and Northern Ireland have been safeguarded, thanks to a multimillion-pound government scheme to help ensure critical freight can continue to move into and across the union.The package, worth up to £17 million ($21 million), is being funded by the U.K. government and the Northern Ireland Executive and will be made available to operators so that they can continue running freight services on five sea routes between Great Britain and Northern Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic.Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced further funding…

DP World London Gateway Launch Apprenticeship Scheme

The hunt is on for six apprentices to undertake a 4-year programme combining study, training, & hands-on work experience in engineering. DP World London Gateway will pay an annual salary for six students to study at college and carry out work experience on-site over a four year period. This will culminate in the award of a Higher National Certificate in engineering. Fendercare to Open Wind Turbine Support Base

On Thursday 19 July 2012, Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine will be hosting a launch event to officially open its Great Yarmouth offshore wind turbine support base. The company’s new facility on the Old Bure Marine site in Cobholm follows on from the success of its first base in Lyness, Orkney and will provide an extensive range of support services & equipment to the expanding offshore wind industry. The Great Yarmouth site, which cost in excess of £1million, includes a large set down and storage area as well as quay side frontage and office facilities.
