Brookes Bell said it has been contracted by Norwegian Cruise Line to deliver its software solution SRtP Onboard across its Breakaway Plus class of vessels. Brookes Bell was engaged directly by the Meyer Werft shipyard for these tasks whose close collaboration greatly enhanced the final output to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.The software was installed on the newly launched Norwegian Cruise Line ship, Norwegian Encore in December 2019 including the delivery of training to all crew involved.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s first ship custom-designed specifically for the Chinese cruise market will be repositioned to sail from the United States starting in 2019.The nearly 4,000 passenger cruise ship Norwegian Joy is slated to sail seasonally from Seattle to Alaska in summer 2019 before making voyages to the Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal from Los Angeles in winter 2019/2020.Built by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft in 2017, the 1,094-foot-long, 167,725 gt Norwegian Joy was designed with finishes and amenities tailored specifically to the tastes of Chinese guests.

Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of the 168,028-gross-ton cruise ship Norwegian Bliss from shipbuilder Meyer Werft during a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany, marking the conclusion of an 18-month building period.Norwegian Bliss is the third vessel in the line’s Breakaway Plus class and the first cruise ship specifically designed for Alaska cruising.The ship features a two-level competitive electric-car racetrack that sits at the top of deck 19; it is the largest at sea and a first for any North America-based cruise ship.

A keel laying ceremony was held for Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) new cruise ship Norwegian Bliss at the shipbuilder Meyer Werft’s facility in Papenburg, Germany. During the ceremony, one of the keel blocks of the 167,800 gross ton vessel was lifted into the covered building hall, signifying a major milestone in the ship’s construction. NCL president and CEO Andy Stuart laid the traditional coin, etched with the outline of the ship’s signature hull designed by wildlife artist Wyland, before the block was lowered into place.

Norwegian Cruise Line took delivery of Norwegian Joy, the brand’s 15th ship and the first custom-designed for the Chinese cruise market, from Meyer Werft during an on board ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany. The vessel is due to arrive in China in June. “As Norwegian Cruise Line continues our global growth, Norwegian Joy’s delivery marks a momentous occasion in our company’s history, signifying our official entry into the Chinese cruise market,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer for Norwegian Cruise Line.

Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Cruise Line’s first custom-designed ship for the Chinese cruise market, began her journey to her home port of Shanghai, China this week, as she departed the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on Sunday, March 26 for her approximately 14-hour long conveyance along the Ems River. Norwegian Cruise Line’s first cruise ship custom designed for China has been floated out of Meyer Werft’s covered building dock II on March 4 in Papenburg, Germany, where the 168,800-gross-ton ship has been under construction since September 2015. Beginning early Saturday morning, the 3,850 passenger vessel, Norwegian Joy, departed building dock II. Now well on its way to completion, the 324-meter-long and 41.4-meter-wide Norwegian Joy will move into the final phase of construction ahead of its April 27, 2017 delivery.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. said it has reached an agreement with Fincantieri S.p.A. to construct the next generation of ships for its Norwegian Cruise Line brand, ordering four 140,000 gross ton ships for delivery in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, with an option for two additional ships to be delivered in 2026 and 2027. The four ships, priced at approximately €800 million per unit, will each accommodate approximately 3,300 guests. The new vessels will build upon the brand's most recent Breakaway-Plus Class ships built at Meyer Werft. A priority of the prototype design is energy efficiency, with the aim of optimizing fuel consumption and reducing the impact on the environment.

Norwegian Cruise Line is celebrating the cutting of the first piece of steel for Norwegian Bliss, the line’s sixteenth vessel and the first one designed for the ultimate Alaska cruising experience. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and MEYER WERFT executives gathered at the MEYER WERFT Laser Center in Papenburg, Germany on October 28 to mark the ceremonial start of construction of Norwegian Bliss, which is set for delivery in Spring 2018 and will be the twelfth Norwegian ship built by MEYER WERFT. Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., pressed the start button of the computer-controlled cutting machine, commencing construction.

Norwegian Cruise Line will commence a new era of Alaska cruising beginning June 2018, as the company announced today that its next new vessel, Norwegian Bliss, will be custom-built with features and amenities for Alaska cruising. Norwegian Bliss will cruise to America’s Last Frontier from Seattle and will be the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship to make its debut in the Emerald City. At a ceremony held at Port of Seattle’s Pier 66, Norwegian President and CEO Andy Stuart shared the news alongside Port of Seattle CEO Ted Fick and Port of Seattle Commission President John Creighton.

Finnish manufacturer and supplier of scrubber solutions Langh Tech will deliver scrubber systems to two new cruise vessels on order at Meyer Werft in Papenburg for (NCL). The two newbuildings of NCL’s Breakaway Plus class will be equipped with Langh Tech’s hybrid type scrubbers, enabling unrestricted operation in closed loop mode. Delivery includes scrubber units for all five engines on each ship and treatment plants for the scrubber water. “The scrubber tower is of our design but will be manufactured at the shipyard.

ALMACO Group has delivered the first of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway-Plus class ships, Norwegian Escape. The largest in Norwegian’s fleet, the ship was built at Meyer Werft and delivered on October 22, 2015. ALMACO’s scope for Norwegian Escape includes design, supply and installation of all catering-related equipment in the Galleys, Bars, Buffets, Pantries, Provision Stores and Refrigeration Machinery. Norwegian Cruise Line will introduce the first purpose-built ship customized for the Chinese market in 2017, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Marking the beginning of construction of the second ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Plus class, a steel cutting ceremony was held Tuesday, September 15 at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The new vessel, named Norwegian Bliss, is scheduled to be delivered in spring 2017. Once completed, the ship will weigh 165,600 gross tons, measure 330 meters in length and 41.4 meters in breadth, and feature capacity for up to 4,200 guests, with the capability to reach speeds up to 23 knots, according to the shipbuilder.

Azipod XO propulsion units will power two new vessels that Meyer Werft will build for Norwegian Cruise Line. ABB has been awarded a contract worth $60 million to deliver Azipod propulsion and power systems to two Norwegian Cruise Line vessels. The Breakaway-Plus class cruise ships will be built by Meyer Werft of Germany and delivered in Q2 2018 and Q4 2019. The new 164,000 gt vessels will be equipped with ABB's Azipod XO electrical propulsion systems, which are already featured on several of Norwegian Cruise Line’s new vessels, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway as well as the larger Breakaway-Plus class ships, Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss, currently under construction at Meyer Werft. ABB will also deliver complete electric power plants, generators and drives to the ships.

Norwegian Cruise Line says it has reached an agreement with MEYER WERFT GmbH of Germany to build two new Breakaway-Plus class cruise ships for delivery in the second quarter 2018 and the fourth quarter 2019. Each ship will be 164,600 gross tons and include 4,200 passenger berths. "Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway have proven themselves as industry game-changers and are extremely popular with our guests," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's chief executive officer. The contract price for both ships is approximately euro 1.6 billion. The Company has export credit financing in place for each ship, arranged and underwritten by KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH of Germany.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, won orders worth $180 million in 2013 to deliver complete electrical power plants and propulsion systems for six new cruise liners that include its latest-generation Azipod XO units. The orders make 2013 the best-ever year for ABB in cruise liners with the Azipod system. The six ships include two for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), two for Royal Caribbean International and one each for Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Lines, all leading brands in the cruise market. The orders were booked over the course of the year, with about $30 million in the first quarter, about $90 million in the second, about $30 million in the third, and the remaining $30 million in the fourth.

MAN Diesel & Turbo has won the order from Meyer Werft for new cruise vessels for Norwegian Cruise Line to supply its V48/60CR engines with diesel-electric propulsion systems. The ships will be built at Meyer Werft, the cruise liner specialist builder in Papenburg, northern Germany. Norwegian is a longstanding customer of MAN Diesel & Turbo with almost its entire fleet powered by the 48/60 and 58/64 engine types. The new ships, accorded the project name Breakaway Plus, will be the largest in Norwegian’s fleet.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) confirms an order for a second “Breakaway Plus” cruise ship from Meyer Werft of Papenburg, Germany for delivery in spring 2017. Along with the first Breakaway Plus ship, which is scheduled for delivery in October 2015, these two new vessels will be the largest in the line’s fleet at approximately 163,000 gross tons and 4,200 passenger berths each and will be similar in design and innovation to the line’s current Breakaway class, the first of which, Norwegian Breakaway, launched in New York in early May.

Norwegian Breakaway, the largest ship ever constructed in Germany, floated out of Meyer Werft’s covered building dock II at the end of February. The luxury cruise ship will undertake sea trials before her delivery to the owner and passage to her home port of New York by May 7th, 2013. The build project represented Bolidt’s highest profile decking commitment for a maritime customer through 2012, with 16,500m2 of surfacing materials delivered. This year, deliveries of Bolideck 525 and Bolideck Future Teak have already started for sister ship Norwegian Getaway, which is due delivery in 2014.

Bolidt has announced  that well-known creative forces at Tillberg Design and SMC Design have selected the company to supply flooring for Norwegian Cruise Line’s (Norwegian) newest ship, Norwegian Breakaway. Many of the ship’s main public areas will be enhanced by Bolidt’s subtle and functional surface shades, the designers say. Bolidt, known as the deck and flooring specialists, is supplying 16,500m2 of surfacing for Norwegian Breakaway, including Bolideck 525, a seamlessly applied, skid resistant and shock absorbing deck covering system, or Bolideck Future Teak.
