Italian Pleads Guilty to Marine-hose Price-fixing in US
A former executive of Parker ITR Srl pleaded guilty on Thursday to conspiring to rig bids for marine hose and was sentenced to two years in prison, the U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday. Romano Pisciotti, who is Italian, had been flown into the United States from Germany in early April in the first extradition on charges of breaking antitrust law, the department said. US Flies Italian Exec to Florida in Extradition
The United States has extradited a former executive of an Italian marine hose manufacturer to face price-fixing charges in what the Justice Department said was its first extradition on antitrust charges. Romano Pisciotti, a former executive with Italy's Parker ITR SRL, was extradited from Germany and arrived in Miami on Thursday to face a single count of rigging bids and allocating market share in the marine hose industry, the department said. Newbuilding Named at Odense Steel Shipyard
On October 4, Odense Steel Shipyard named its latest newbuilding, a 7,000 TEU container ship, for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. Yumiko Arakawa, wife of Shoshi Arakawa, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President, Bridgestone Corporation, honored A.P. Moller – Maersk and the Yard by naming the newbuilding Mette Maersk. Mette Maersk is the fourth ship in a series of six container ships. The ship is designed and built to meet the highest demands for safe, precise, environmentally friendly and economic transportation of goods all over the globe.
Jail for Execs in Marine Hose Bid-Rigging Conspiracy
An independent consultant and two executives of Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd., a manufacturer of marine hose located in Grimsby, U.K., pleaded guilty and have agreed to serve record-setting prison sentences for participating in a conspiracy to rig bids, fix prices, and allocate market shares of marine hose sold in the U.S. the Department of Justice announced. The plea agreements were filed today in U.S. District Court in Houston. The Antitrust Division filed a one-count felony charge on Dec. 3, 2007, against Peter Whittle, sole proprietor of a consulting business named PW Consulting (Oil & Marine); Bryan Allison, managing director of Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd.; and David Brammar, Dunlop’s sales and marketing director, in U.S. District Court in Houston.
