French Send Deep Diving Robot to Help Titanic Sub Search

A French robot that can dive to 20,000 feet (6,000 meters) underwater is on its way to help find a tourist submersible that vanished as it descended to the Titanic wreck and it could help free the sub if it is trapped, its operator said on Wednesday.The unmanned robot, called Victor 6000, can dive deeper than other equipment now at the site in the North Atlantic and has arms that can be remotely controlled to cut cables or perform other maneuvers to release a stuck vessel, the operator said.The robot…

Originally from the U.K., Cox turned his passion into a reality with his focus on the wonders of industrial marinescapes, (as pictured here) in addition to his fascination with the American landscape. Los Angeles, Calif.-based photographer Martin Cox had a revelation when he was just seven years old that he wanted to pursue the art of photography. Cox, who was born and raised in the maritime mecca of Southampton, U.K., can vividly recall the day Cunard's original Queen Mary set off on its final voyage from the port city. "When I was seven years old, something happened that was to complicate my life," Cox said.

UK MCA and USCG Coordinate Rescue of Rower in the Pacific

The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) issued a Press Notice stating that it and the U.S. Coast Guard coordinated the rescue of a single-handed British ocean rower in the Pacific approximately 1600 miles west of the United States. Falmouth Coastguard received an alert from the rower’s distress beacon and then contacted the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska. The USCG vectored the container ship HANJIN PHILADELPHIA to the location.
