Shoei Kisen to Deliver 4 Vessels to Yang Ming

Taiwanese ocean shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation  and Japan's Shoei Kisen Kaisha signed charter agreements for four new 11,000 TEU containerships in Hong Kong.During the ceremony, the time-charter agreements were signed by Yang Ming’s Chairman Bronson Hsieh and Shoei Kisen’s President Yukito Higaki.The four new vessels will be delivered in the first three quarters of year 2022.In order to enhance the company’s mid- to long-term operational efficiency and competitiveness, Yang Ming continues its fleet optimization plan during recent years.In addition to these four new 11,000 TEU containerships, Yang Ming had ordered another ten 11…

Imabari Shipbuilding Delivers Two Container Ships to Yang Ming

Two new 14,000 TEU full-container vessels built for Taiwanese ocean shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation  by Imabari Shipbuilding  Japan, were named as YM Wonderland and YM Wisdom respectively.Yang Ming Chairman Bronson Hsieh, and National Ocean Taiwan University President Chang Ching Fong, were invited to the naming ceremony. Ms. Sun Lan Tien, wife of Mr. Chang Ching Fong and Ms. Wu Li Fen, wife of Yang Ming Shipping Europe GmbH Managing Director Hsu Shih Feng, were also invited to officiate the naming of the new vessels at Imabari Saijo Shipyard.YM Wonderland and YM Wisdom are the second and the third of five 14,000 TEU full-container vessels Yang Ming chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.

Yang Ming Launches New Container Vessel, 'YM Wellbeing'

YM Wellbeing, a new 14,000 TEU full-container vessel built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., was named at a ceremony held on 18th September, 2018.Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. Yang Ming Orders Ten 2,800 TEU Containerships

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (Yang Ming) signed a contract with CSBC CORPORATION, TAIWAN (CSBC) for the construction of a total of ten 2,800 TEU class full container vessels. The contract was signed by Yang Ming’s Chairman Bronson Hsieh and CSBC’s Chairman Cheng Wen-Lon.The new ships are due for delivery starting in the second quarter of 2020 and will help to meet the future demand for medium and long-term vessel deployments, and improve competitiveness, Yang Ming said.In the meantime, Yang Ming will also take delivery of five 14,000 TEU chartered vessels beginning in the fourth quarter 2018 and throughout the first-half of next year.In light of the rapid growth seen in the Asian emerging markets…

Yang Ming Rules Out Merger

The chairman of  Taiwan's Yang Ming Bronson Hsieh has ruled out a merger with a boxship rival.    According to him, the world's ninth-largest shipping firm has never considered the possibility of merging with another operator and does not intend to do it now.   Over the past 10 years, the five shippers with the highest profit margins have been smaller players. Smaller companies do not necessarily have to be merged, he said.   He  expects the global oversupply causing a severe downturn in the shipping industry to ease in 2017.

Bronson Hsieh Leaves Evergreen to Head Yang Ming

Evergreen Group vice chairman Bronson Hsieh has been appointed chairman of rival Taiwan carrier Yang Ming Marine.   Yang Ming Marine Transport, the nation’s second-largest container shipper in terms of fleet size, approved Hsieh’s appointment, reports said.   Hsieh worked at Evergreen Group for more than 40 years before stepping down from his position earlier this year.   Hsieh replaces Frank Lu, who has served as chairman of the shipping line since 2003. Hsieh lost his role at Evergreen in March during a succession battle between the two sons of the late chairman of the Taiwanese company, Chung Yung-fa.   Yang Ming Marine Transport reported a net loss of NT$7.72 billion (US$239.6) last year, or NT$2.24 in losses per share, with total sales of NT$127.56 billion.

Evergreen Orders 10 More Ships

The Evergreen Group, Taiwan's largest container shipper, has signed an agreement with Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding Co. to build 10 new container vessels with a capacity of 2,800 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) to expand its fleet. The new shipbuilding plan is the second time in the past month that the shipping company has decided to add 2,800-TEU container ships to its fleet. In August, Evergreen signed an agreement with Taiwanese shipbuilder China Shipbuilding Corp. (CSBC) for 10 new vessels with a capacity of 2,800 TEUs each. The first ship is planned to be delivered during the second half of 2017 with the completion of the series due by the first half of 2018. The vessels are planned to be deployed in the intra-Asia trade.

Evergreen Orders Ten Boxships

Evergreen Group signed an agreement with CSBC Corporation, Taiwan to build ten 2,800 TEU class B-type vessels. Witnessed by Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman Bronson Hsieh, the contracts were signed by EMC Chairman Anchor Chang and CSBC Chairman Sun-Quae Lai. The first ship will be delivered during the second half of 2017 with the completion of the series due by the first half of 2018. The vessels will be deployed in the intra-Asia trade. Bronson Hsieh said, "After the negotiations of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) are concluded, the ASEAN countries, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand are expected to remove trade barriers, enhancing bilateral trades and thereby boosting regional cargo growth.

Evergreen Names Penultimate L-type Containership

A naming ceremony was held for the Evergreen Group’s newest containership, Ever Lovely, the ninth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan and the penultimate vessel in a series of 30 ships. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen's  Second Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new vessel was performed by Anna U. Obermeier, the wife of Pier Luigi Maneschi, Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency (Italy) S.p.A. Ever Lovely is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

Evergreen Holds Naming Ceremony for New Ship

Evergreen Group held the naming ceremony for Ever Loading, the sixth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Michelle Nardulli, a member of the Board of Directors of Italia Marittima, Evergreen's Italian subsidiary. Hsieh said in his speech that the vessel's name symbolizes Evergreen Line's target for continued business success.

Naming Ceremony Held in Korea for Ever Leader

Evergreen's Eighth New 8,452-TEU Ship Christened. Ever Leader, the eighth L-type containership of Evergreen Line, was christened by Bronson Hsieh, the Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman, at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard today. The ceremonial rope cutting for the new 8,452-TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Sook-Je Lee in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from Taiwan and abroad. Ever Leader is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd. and scheduled to be delivered on January 15, 2013. Evergreen Group Orders Ten 8000 TEU vessels

Evergreen Group has placed orders with Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd in Taipei for ten 8,000-TEU L-class environmentally advanced container vessels. The first vessel is due for delivery in 2012 and will join Evergreen Line global containership fleet. Six of the new vessels will be built for Evergreen Marine Corporation and four for Evergreen International S.A. (Panama). The ships are being built at a cost of $103m each. The new ships will be constructed under the innovative Greenship design concept developed by Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Chang Yung-Fa nearly 10 years ago and first introduced in 2003. The highly developed features have been built into every Evergreen Line vessel since then. The Greenship program has taken environmental protection and compliance to a superior level.
