Fort Lauderdale PD Repowers with Cox Marine V8 Outboard

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is repowering one of its patrol boats with a new 300-horsepower variant of Cox Marine’s flagship V8 diesel outboard.The department is working with Cox Marine’s East Coast distributor, Ring Power Cox Marine, for the project.The vessel is a 33'1" Brunswick Impact 1000 built in 2018, now powered by twin Cox 300 diesel outboards. Algoma Orders Two Tankers from Hyundai Mipo

Algoma Central Corporation announced it has placed an order with Hyundai Mipo Shipyard in South Korea to build two 37,000 DWT ice class product tanker vessels for a total investment of CA$127 million (about US$96.2 million).These new ships will be entered on long-term time charters to Irving Oil under Canadian flag, servicing the energy company’s refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick, with deliveries to ports in Atlantic Canada and the U.S. East Coast.Delivery of the new vessels is expected during the first quarter of 2025.

US Navy Sends Ship to Evacuate Americans from Sudan

The United States has sent a Navy ship to Sudan to help evacuate American citizens who have been stranded in the country since fighting broke out earlier this month, two U.S. officials told Reuters.The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the USNS Brunswick, a fast-transport vessel, was in Port Sudan temporarily. Tug Crewman Medevaced Off US East Coast

Ailing Mariner Medevaced from Car Carrier off Georgia

US Navy Commissions USS Savannah (LCS 28)

The U.S. Navy commissioned its newest Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship USS Savannah (LCS 28) Feb. 5, 2022, in Brunswick, Ga.Built by Austal USA in Mobile, Ala., The 418-foot-long LCS 28 is the 14th Independence-variant LCS and 28th in its class. The LCS is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments while capable of open-ocean tasking. The LCS can support forward presence, maritime security, sea control and deterrence.Construction on LCS 28 began in July 2018 and a keel laying ceremony was held for the vessel in September 2019.

Hornblower Acquires Two Offshore Vessels
