LR to Class Project Resolve Conversion
Project Resolve is the conversion of the container vessel M.V. Asterix to an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship to support the Royal Canadian Navyâs (RCN) interim supply ship capability requirements. Providing support to Project Resolve will be Lloydâs Registerâs (LR) naval technology expertise and complex conversion experience. LR will support the conversion process from the development of a safety certification regime with the Flag Administration and approval of design plans through to on-site supervision at Davie and commissioning of the new AOR ship.
LR to Class BC Ferries' LNG-fueled Newbuilds
BC Ferries has awarded Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. of Gdansk, Poland contracts totaling $165 million to build three new Intermediate Class LNG-fueled passenger ferries, to be classed by Lloydâs Register (LR). The new intermediate class vessels will be the first vessels in BC Ferriesâ fleet to operate as dual-fuel capable, using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or diesel fuel for propulsion and power. Mark Wilson, BC Ferriesâ Vice President of Engineering, said, "BC Ferries is very pleased to have LR as the classification society on these new âIntermediate Classâ ferries.
Streeter U.S. VP for Lloydâs Register N America
Bud Streeter is the new Vice President and Marine Manager for the United States, including responsibility for Panama, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Previously he was Lloydâs Registerâs Marine Manager Canada and, for the immediate future, he will retain his Canadian responsibilities. Bud has more than 40 years of experience in marine engineering, maritime security, and industry legislative affairs. He takes over from Graham Brown who retired at the end of November 2009 after 28 years of service. Based in Lloydâs Register North Americaâs Fort Lauderdale office, Streeter will lead the U.S.
Lloydâs Register Americas Announces New Management Structure
Lloydâs Register Americas, Inc. has strengthened its marine business organization to enhance the support it provides to clients throughout North and South America. With approximately 200 employees and a growing presence in the Americas, the strategically aligned management structure will help Lloydâs Register sharpen its focus on client relationships and better facilitate the services it provides. Tim Protheroe has been appointed Senior Vice President - Americas Marine Business. He will have full executive responsibility for marine activities in the Americas and for implementing Lloydâs Registerâs global marine strategies in the region.
