MacGregor Wins Chinese Shipyard Order

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order from Wuhu Xinlian Shipyard in China for eight MacGregor dry bulk cement handling systems. The fully automated pneumatic systems will be installed on two 78m 12,000 bhp 150T BP anchor handling, tug, supply and oil recovery vessels and six 79m 4,000 dwt platform supply vessels. The contract includes system design and the delivery of key components, which will take place between August 2015 and January 2016. "The customer chose MacGregor's pneumatic dry bulk handling system because it offers high functionality and excellent reliability, important benefits supported by testimonials from other satisfied customers," says Francis Wong, head of Sales and Marketing at MacGregor Offshore Deck Machinery.

Keel Laying Ceremony for Global Marine Three Aluminum Crew Boats

On November 1, 2012, Grandweld Shipyards has celebrated the keel laying of the three new 42M Aluminum Crew Boats for the repeat client Global Marine. The contract was signed in August 2012 following the successful delivery of the three sister crew boats in 2011. The series is a heavily modified version of the 41M, and is designed to reach a speed in excess of 25 knots and incorporates luxury seating, accommodation for VIP guests, larger deck space and enhanced comfort for the crew. The vessel features a total seating capacity for 83 passengers, 110sqm loading area for over 90 Tons of deck cargo handled by a deck crane, fire fighting capability, bulk cement handling, in addition to the capacity of carrying large amount of fuel and freshwater.

Cargotec can now offer electrically-driven versions of its proven range of offshore MacGregor anchor handling/ towing winches (eAHT). "This new series of electrically-driven winches inherits the best characteristics of our proven designs," says Francis Wong, Cargotec's Sales Director for offshore winch solutions. He adds: "All our eAHTs are designed to meet the most stringent offshore standards, including those set by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD). In 2005, Robert Allan Ltd will celebrate its 75th year of continuous business as a firm of Consulting Naval Architects.
