IBIA Develops Bunkering Procedure Guidelines

A set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for surveyors has been developed by the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) to help the industry manage new regulations, standardize best practice and build trust in the market, IBIA announced. IBIA said the guidelines have been developed in response to the introduction of the Singapore Mass Flow Meter (MFM) Technical Reference or TR 48:2015 launched on February 16, 2016, in support of the mandatory use of MFM systems for all marine fuel oil (MFO) deliveries in Singapore with effect from January 1, 2017. Singapore’s New Standards in Bunkering

SPRING and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore launch the first standard in the world for both bunker suppliers and surveyors. SPRING Singapore and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have launched a new standard, the Singapore Standard SS 600: 2008 – Code of Practice for Bunkering, to further enhance consistency in practices in the delivery of bunkers for ships calling at Singapore’s port. The launch of this national standard for bunker suppliers and surveyors – a first in the world – was announced by Mr. Raymond Lim, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Singapore International Bunkering Conference (SIBCON 2008).
