Chakraborty Appointed Branch Manager, GAC Bangalore

GAC Shipping (India) Pvt Ltd has appointed Mukesh Chakraborty as the Branch Manager, Logistics Services for its Bangalore office. Mukesh brings 13 years of experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation and warehousing and distribution to his new role. GAC is tapping into growing logistics business potential in Bangalore, India’s fastest growing major metropolis. The city is also a major hub for Business Process Outsourcing and specialised services like information technology and aeronautics. Mark Delaney, GAC Shipping India’s Managing Director, says that with Mukesh at the helm, the company’s Bangalore office is ready to take on the opportunities.

Hofste, Montijn Nominated to Supervisory Board Fugro

Fugro N.V. announces that the Supervisory Board of Fugro nominates Mrs. P.H.M. Hofsté and Mrs. A.H. Montijn for appointment as members of the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) to be held on 30 April 2015. Mrs. P. (Petri) H.M. Hofsté (1961) has held senior financial management positions at different organisations. She was a partner at KPMG before she was appointed group controller and later deputy chief financial officer at ABN AMRO Bank. Thereafter she has been division director of the Dutch Central Bank and chief financial and risk officer of APG Group, the largest Dutch pension administrator. Currently, she is member of the Supervisory Board of Kas Bank, Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten and Achmea and member of the board of the Nyenrode Foundation.

Shipbuilding Firm to invest $100m in 2007 expansion

The town of Balamban in the Philippines is expected to grow further next year with the expansion of a large ship manufacturing company located in the municipality. In an interview, Aboitiz and Co. president and chief executive officer Jon Ramon Aboitiz said Tsuneishi Heavy Industries Inc. (THII) would invest some $100 million for the expansion of its shipbuilding capacity, which will begin next year. In a related development, AboitizLand chief executive officer Roberto Aboitiz clarified that the company’s plan to invest at the South Road Properties (SRP) is not yet in its final stage. But, if ever the Aboitizes decide to invest at the SRP, it would not duplicate the development at the Aboitiz-owned and managed Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) 2.
