Penguin Marks Milestone Crewboat Delivery

Singaporean shipbuilder Penguin International Limited last week held a ceremony marking the delivery of a milestone vessel.The 40-meter aluminum crewboat, Pelican Breeze, is noteworthy for being Penguin's 100th newbuild vessel powered by Cat C32 ACERT main propulsion engines and Cat C4.4 auxiliary generators."Back in 2014, almost two decades after we built our first ship, we took our first step with Caterpillar and Tractors Singapore with our first Cat C32-powered vessel, which was only our 95th newbuild at the time," said Penguin's managing director, James Tham.

Crew Transfer Vessel-maker Strategic Marine Orders 50 Caterpillar Engines Citing Supply Chain Chaos

Singapore's Strategic Marine has ordered 50 of its C32 ACERT IMO III engines from Caterpillar dealer PT Trakindo Utama Singapore Branch, citing severe disruptions to the supply of what it says is critical shipbuilding equipment due to the pandemic, which has caused worldwide logistics and supply chain bottlenecks and disruptions.The company, which builds aluminum boats, with offshore crew transfer vessels being its main offering, said the acquisition of the 50 engines would significantly shorten its production timeline for new vessels…

Incat Crowther-Designed Flex Ferry 33X Sets Benchmark

Incat Crowther has announced the launch and delivery of Krotoa, the first Flex Ferry developed in conjunction with Penguin Shipyard. The Incat Crowther designed vessel has been delivered to South Africa’s Robben Island Museum and takes its name from the famous prison’s first female political prisoner. It is the first of Penguin Shipyard’s passenger ferry stock build program. The second vessel will be completed in the coming weeks.Carrying 285 passengers, the Flex Ferry sets a new benchmark, offering efficiency and seakeeping beyond its competitors.

First Diesel-Electric Damen Shoalbuster Ordered

On January 25, 2019 the contract was signed between Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (DSHa) and longstanding client Herman Sr. for the building of the first diesel-electric Damen Shoalbuster 3514 SD DP2. The new vessel is scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2020 and will be named Brutus. Herman Sr. BV Orders First Damen DP2 Shoalbuster

Dutch marine services provider Herman Sr. BV announced that it has agreed with Damen Shipyards Group to order the first of a newly-developed Damen Shoalbuster type with full DP2 capabilities. This will be the first of a new class within the Shoalbuster series and one of the largest available. The vessel will be built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld.35 meters in length, nearly 14 meters wide and with a free deck space of 150m2, the Shoalbuster 3514 will be a substantial working platform.

The Duclos family is iconic in boatbuilding circles, as the Somerset, Mass.-based Gladding-Hearn, Duclos Corporation, has built a strong heritage in the pilot boat and fast ferry sectors, and in total more than 425 vessels have been delivered since it was founded in 1955. New Ferry Marks a Milestone for Incat Crowther

The latest passenger ferry constructed by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority signals a milestone delivery for marine design firm Incat Crowther. The 27-meter catamaran Champion marks the 500th vessel designed by Incat Crowther. “To have successfully designed 500 large commercial vessels is no accident,” said Incat Crowther CEO, Brett Crowther. Crowther added, “It’s apt that our 500th vessel is a Gladding-Hearn build. Peter Duclos, Director of Business Development at Gladding Hearn, said, “Gladding Hearn’s philosophy is to build commercial vessels that make our customers successful. DSC Delivers Its First Tier 4 Final Dredge

In February 2017, DSC Dredge, based in Reserve, La., delivered its first-ever dredge equipped with a Tier 4 Final C32 ACERT Caterpillar engine to a minerals company located in the U.S. The Shark Class Dredge features an 18-inch hull-mounted dredge pump and 300 hp cutter drive assembly, and has a dredging depth capability of 56 feet. DSC supplied stainless steel hydraulic fittings and used anti-corrosion building practices, as the dredge will be working in a corrosive environment.

Rossinavi Launches Endeavour II

Italian yard Rossinavi has launched its new 49.9-metre superyacht Endeavour II during a ceremony attended by 300 guests and shipyard staff. Known as project FR032, the yacht is built entirely out of aluminium to a design by Team 4 Design. Featuring exterior styling by Team For Design, naval architecture by Arrabito and interior décor by Salvagni Architetti, this displacement yacht comprises a total volume of less than 500GT. Up to 10 guests can sleep in the yatch , as well as a crew of 9. Performance wise she is powered by 2 x CGT/Caterpillar C32 Acert engines providing the yacht a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. Designed for long range cruising, FR032 is fitted with twin diesel-electric engines that drive the two Rolls Royce azimuthing pods.

Harbor Breeze Cruises Expands Fleet with AAM Built Catamaran

All American Marine, Inc. (AAM), together with Harbor Breeze Cruises, has announced the completion and delivery of an aluminum catamaran passenger vessel to operate in the Los Angeles and Long Beach harbors. The new vessel, M/V La Espada, is a multi-purpose vessel and will provide harbor tours, whale watch cruises, dinner cruises, and charter ferry service to Catalina Island. La Espada, whose name means ‘the sword’, is 83’ x 29.5’ and is certified to carry 250 passengers. Two Patrol Vessels Delivered in Nigeria

The construction of M/V Hezekiah and M/V Lady Dora, two 35-meter offshore security patrol vessels, has been completed for an undisclosed client in Lagos, Nigeria. The vessels are designed by Incat Crowther, classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and were constructed by Veecraft Marine in Cape Town, South Africa. The vessels are slated to provide surveillance, intervention and protection to offshore assets of the Nigerian AGIP Exploration (NAE) located in the Gulf of Guinea. The vessels are also capable of providing replenishment of crews, fuel, and potable water to the NAE offshore facilities. Propulsive power for the vessels is supplied by three Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each producing 1,450hp at 2,300 rpm, driving Teinbridge fixed pitch propellers through ZF 3050 gearboxes.

Damen Delivers Its Largest Shoalbuster to Date

The first of Damen’s new Shoalbuster 3512 class was recently handed over to Dutch marine services specialist Van Wijngaarden Marine Services B.V. in the port of Boven-Hardinxveld, the Netherlands. At the ceremony the Lady Sponsor Elske de Bruijn-de Vries officially named the vessel and made a speech praising the technical capabilities of the vessel. Elske de Bruijn-de Vries is the wife of C.A. (Niels) de Bruijn, a member of the executive board of Van Oord, and is well-known for her role in the TV show ‘Het mooiste meisje van de klas’.

Incat Crowther Designs Ferry for Malaysia

Incat Crowther has been commissioned to design a passenger transport ferry to be operated by Cataferry Sdn Bhd, in Malaysia. The main deck features a full width cabin accommodating 151 passengers. This area includes interior seating, a cargo luggage area, locker rooms for switch boards and an entertainment bar. Aft of the cabin features three restrooms and a luggage room to hold cargo. A swim deck is featured below, on the aft portion of the main deck. Forty passengers can be accommodated on the mid deck within the cabin, as 13 can be seated aft of the cabin, outside.

Wave Piercing Cat Utility Craft Delivered to Nigeria

Incat Crowther has announced the delivery of Benreoch, a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Utility Craft built by Veecraft Marine in Cape Town, South Africa. The vessel was developed specifically for crew transfer to offshore platforms in Nigeria. At 30.3m in length and 8.5m in beam, Benreoch is 2.7m longer and 1m wider than her predecessors, Topaz Zenith and Topaz Zephyr. The larger platform has been used to increase the aft working deck capacity, with a 53m2 cargo area and rescue boat and crane.

Incat Crowther Designs Commercial Security Vessel

Incat Crowther has received a contract to design an offshore commercial oilfield security vessel for Veecraft Marine and its client, UTM Dredging Ltd, the designer announced today. Continuing its relationship with Veecraft Marine, a South African shipyard specializing in aluminum vessels, Incat Crowther said it has developed a high endurance, efficient, yet robust design. Two vessels of this design are under construction with future orders pending. The vessels are to be powered by three Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each producing 1,450hp at 2,300 rpm.

Waterjet-propelled Crewboat Delivered to Petrobras

BS Camburi, a 36-meter Monohull Crewboat built in Brazil by Arpoador Engenharia to the Petrobras type P2 specification has been launched and delivered. Designed by Incat Crowther, the 118-foot (36-meter) aluminum crewboat is powered by triple CAT C32 ACERT diesel engines coupled to three Thrustmaster DOEN DJ290 waterjets. Designed to Petrobras type P2 crew boat spec, this vessel will transport up to 70 passengers and crew as well as carry 50 tons of deck cargo plus fuel and fresh water cargo at a fully loaded service speed of more than 17 knots.

New Teknicraft Wind Farm Support Vessel

Teknicraft Design’s latest offshore support catamaran made a debut at the recent Oceanology 2014 conference held at the London ExCel Center in March. The MO1 was commissioned by Mainprize Offshore Ltd. of Scarborough, U.K. he 83’ aluminum catamaran features a new wave piercing hull shape and the vessel is fit with Teknicraft’s signature hydrofoil support system. MO1 was purpose built to support the offshore wind farm industry, but the vessel has multi-mission capability and can easily support divers, hydrographic surveys, and geophysical work.

Bulletproof Crewboats Delivered in Nigeria

Incat Crowther is pleased to announce that Veecraft Marine has delivered a pair of 20m Monohull Crewboats and signed a contract to build a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Crew Boat. Hot on the heels of delivering Magen Defender and Masud Defender, the hard-working South African yard has commenced construction of a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Crew Boat for Africa Diving Service Ltd. of Nigeria. The recently delivered 20m Monohull Crewboats are based on the proven platform of 2011’s Ahuva, also built by Veecraft Marine.

Incat Crowther Launches Pair of Catamaran Ferries

Incat Crowther announced the launch of Red Hook I and Cruz Bay I, a pair 25m Catamaran passenger ferries to operate in St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Delivered by Midship Marine in Louisiana, these vessels follow on from the successful trio of UltraJet boats, also built by the yard to Incat Crowther’s design. The new vessels have a similar configuration, with a half-height wheelhouse allowing a completely open upper passenger deck. 72 seats are fitted to the upper deck, whilst the main deck passenger cabin is fitted with seats for 131, plus a pair of wheelchair spaces.
