ABB to Deliver Shore Connection Solution for Portsmouth International Port

Cavotec Awarded $5.7 Million Shore Power Refit Contract

Cavotec reports it has signed a $5.7 million contract to retrofit vessels with shore power solutions for an undisclsoed major European shipping line.The agreement entails the complete retrofit of containerships from installation of Cavotec's cable management system to modifications of the ship’s switchboards. ABB Supplies Charging System for Auckland’s New Electric Ferries

Traditional SOFEC CALM buoy designs have integrated electrical power cable management solutions that allow vessel(s) mooring while utilizing externally supplied power. Zinus Awarded Contract to Supply Shore Power to Port of Oslo

Cavotec Wins Port Power Supply Deal for Malta’s Valletta Grand Harbor

Cavotec won a contract by Nidec ASI as part of its $14.5 million deal to provide ShorePower to five cruise liner berths at Malta’s Valletta Grand Harbor. The project is part of a major EU funded initiative by Infrastructure Malta to electrify the entire harbor and reduce portside ship emissions by 90%.Cavotec's ShorePower solution has been designed to meet the specific requirements of the Valletta Port and connect vessels over their entire port length. It includes the mobile cable management system, PowerMove, to provide ship-to-shore connectivity.

Cruise Ships to Run on Shore Power in Port of Valletta

Cruise ships moored in the Maltese port of Valletta will soon be able to plug into the island's energy grid, drawing the power they require to be fully operative without having to keep their diesel engines running. ABB Enables Emission-free Port Visits

French ferry operator Corsica Linea is fitting out its ferries calling Port of Marseille with equipment necessary to use electricity for power at berth using  ABB’s shore connection technology.Instead of running diesel-fueled auxiliary engines, Paglia Orba, Jean Nicoli and Pascal Paoli ferrieswill use electricity for power at berth. Each of the three vessels is being modified to feature ABB’s power compensation solution Dynacomp, which allows electricity available from the local grid in Marseille to be stepped down to 11KV in order to take care of ship power needs while in port.“ABB shore connection technology enables the type of emissions-free ship power that regulators, ports and local residents increasingly demand.

Cavotec, ABB Partner on Shore-to-ship Power

Cavotec and ABB have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly offer complete shore-to-ship power solutions globally. Such solutions allow vessels to plug into onshore power supply and shut down their engines, eliminating noxious emissions, noise and vibrations while berthed in ports that are often located in city surrounds. Canada Funds Green Port Project in Prince Rupert

The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today announced that the Government of Canada will invest $2.5m in the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s (PRPA’s) Fairview Terminal project to provide shore power capacity to container ships through an electric cable management system.
