Chinese oil trader Unipec chartered a supertanker to ship U.S. crude to China in September, trading sources said, the first such cargo since U.S. President Donald Trump announced additional tariffs on Chinese import, ending a monthlong trade truce.Unipec, the trading arm of state refiner Sinopec , has fixed the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Anne to load U.S. crude in mid-September, according to a shipbroker and Refinitiv Eikon data. Netherlands-based  global logistics company Samskip is restructuring the multi-purpose cargo and reefer services connecting North Sea and Baltic ports to Norway operated by subsidiary Nor Lines.A press release from the company stated: "The overhaul, effective from October 1st, 2018, will meet rising demand for reefer and project cargo services southbound and increase capacity for conventional and project cargoes northbound along the Norwegian coast and beyond to Murmansk. Two existing multi-purpose service loops increase to three."In the most obvious change, capacity on the three-ship Nor Lines service between Baltic ports and Norway will be expanded to four vessels, each with reefer/palletized and deck space, and 50mt heavy lift crane capacity.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc is in talks to sell its assets in a Gulf of Mexico oilfield to Focus Oil to pay for its takeover of BG Group Plc, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with matter.The deal could value Shell's stake in the Caesar Tonga field at about $1.3 billion, the report said.Shell has a 22.5 percent working interest in Caesar Tonga, with the rest owned by companies including Anadarko Petroleum Corp, Equinor ASA and Chevron Corp, Bloomberg said, citing company filings.Shell and Focus Oil did not immediately respond to a request for comment.(Reporting by Sathvik N in B

Samskip has increased capacity on Norway by chartering the 657 TEU container vessel MV Alk, built in 2004 and measuring 132.60 x 19.20 metres. Caesar Luikenaar, Trade Director Scandinavia Trade says the company has deployed the 8,015 DWT vessel on the weekly Norwegian West Coast service which is experiencing significant traffic growth. “This vessel first departed last Monday and is well equipped for the weekly route between the Norwegian West Coast and Europe, departing from Rotterdam to Stavanger, Bergen, Ålesund and back again to Rotterdam,” Luikenaar said.

The Philippines aims to buy two frigates, two helicopters and three gunboats for deployment in the South China Sea where a territorial dispute with China has lent urgency to the need to bolster forces, a Philippine navy officer said on Wednesday. China claims nearly the entire South China Sea, rejecting claims to parts of it by the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan. The confrontation between the Philippines and China has been particularly tense since June 2012 when China seized a rocky outcrop known as the Scarborough Shoal which is believed to be rich in oil and natural gas as well as fisheries resources. Statoil together with co-owners in the Stampede development in the Gulf of Mexicohas sanctioned the Stampede project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Statoil said it will invest $1.5 billion in the Stampede development, which is expected to begin production in 2018. Statoil owns 25% of Stampede, which is operated by Hess. Stampede, a new project named from unitizing the former discoveries of Knotty Head and Pony, is located approximately 350 kilometers (215 miles) from New Orleans, Louisiana at a water depth of more than 1,000 meters (3,500 feet). The reservoir depth is 9,100 meters (30,000 feet).

The Coast Guard suspended its search Wednesday at 3 p.m. for two missing Cuban migrants in the vicinity of Caesar Creek, Florida, to Haulover Inlet, Florida. "Our Coast Guard men and women worked tirelessly looking for the two missing Cuban migrants; however, despite our best efforts we have been unable to locate them, and have decided to suspended the search," said Capt. Austin Gould, commander of Coast Guard Sector Miami. "This illegal migrant venture demonstrates just how dangerous taking to the sea in unseaworthy vessels can be. In total, 11 lives were saved by Coast Guard and partner agency rescue crews. Search and rescue crews completed 27 search patterns covering approximately 3,145 square miles over a 55 hour period.

As of September 30, Samskip Multimodal introduces its own weekly shortsea service to the Norwegian West Coast, connecting its pan-European network to Tananger, Bergen and Ålesund via Rotterdam, the Netherlands, deploying the 518 TEU MV Pioneer Bay. Lewek Centurion (formerly Caesar) to install pipelines in support of existing Cecon projects. EMAS AMC, the subsea services division of EMAS, a global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas (O&G) industry and the operating brand of Ezra Holdings Limited, announced  that its pipelay vessel, the Lewek Centurion has been contracted by Cecon in the North Sea for some 60 kilometers of pipeline installation work, in support of Cecon’s 2013 project commitments currently in-hand. Both parties have expressed a shared commitment to explore further opportunities for cooperation in the future. The Lewek Centurion is a 146 meters long DP-2 deepwater S-lay vessel with a 405Te pipelay tension capacity and a 300Te crane.

Brazilian joint venture will use SmartMarine® Enterprise components for project with oil giant Petrobras. Tome Ferrostaal, a joint venture between Tome Engenharia and Ferrostaal in Brazil, has selected Intergraph® SmartMarine® Enterprise solutions, distributed by Sisgraph, as part of a project with Petrobras, one of the world's largest energy companies. Helix Energy Solutions Group to sell pipelay vessels, 'Caesar, Express', 'Intrepid' & related equipment in separate transactions for a total $252,750,000. On October 15, 2012, Helix entered into an agreement to sell the Caesar, Express and related equipment to Coastal Trade Limited for a total of $238,250,000. The sale of these assets is expected to close in two stages as each vessel completes its existing contractual backlog. The Express closing is expected to occur in February 2013 and the Caesar closing is expected to occur in July 2013.

A Russian amphibious landing ship, the Caesar Kunikov left the Black Sea port of Sevastopol for what a Black Sea Fleet officer said was a routine exercise at a training base, in response to media reports earlier this week that it could be heading for Syria. Statoil’s operations in North America got another boost when operator Anadarko Petroleum and co-owners Shell and Chevron today announced the beginning of first oil production from the Caesar Tonga deep-water project in the Gulf of Mexico. Caesar Tonga, in which Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC has a 23.55 percent  working interest, began flowing high-quality oil on March 7. Production from the project’s first three wells is expected to ramp up to approximately 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day.

Maritime and offshore oil & gas engineering company Harris Pye announce that it has successfully used its 360 degree3D scanner to survey the engine room of Neva River (ex Celestine River), an LNG carrier. The project involved taking a full 3D scan of the engine room in order to ascertain the best system for a ballast water treatment installation. The scan enables Harris Pye engineers to rapidly create three-dimensional images of the entire engine room, and thus create various ballast water treatment models in order to select the best for a client. The entire engine room survey took less than 5 hours, causing minimal disturbance to the crew.

On Wednesday, 6 May, StatoilHydro received first oil from the Chevron-operated Tahiti field in the US Gulf of Mexico. Tahiti is expected to produce 125,000 barrels of oil and two million cubic metres of natural gas a day, reaching plateau production later this year. With Tahiti on stream, StatoilHydro will more than double its production from the US Gulf of Mexico. StatoilHydro's interest in the Tahiti field was acquired through the EnCana Gulf of Mexico acreage acquisition in 2005, with Tahiti being sanctioned later that year.
