ONE Announces Asia Pacific 1 Service

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a new route connecting Asia and the US West Coast: Asia Pacific 1 (AP1) as a result of sustained growth of US import volumes from Asia to the US.The AP1 service introduces direct routes from Taipei and Shekou to the U.S. West Coast. OOCL Adds Third 24,188 TEU Containership

(OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of another 24,188 TEU mega ship.The OOCL Turkiye, recently named during a ceremony at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. OOCL Takes Delivery of a 24,188 TEU Ultra-large Containership

Wan Hai Lines Enhances Japan Services

One Minato Shines Through Port of Yantian

Ocean Network Express East Asia (ONE EA) has celebrated the maiden voyage of the second of a series of seven 14,000 TEU-class magenta containership of the company, ONE MINATO at Yantian International Container Terminals Limited (YICT).Sailed under the flag of Japan,  One Minato is a newly built 14,000 TEU-class containership which was delivered from Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Hiroshima, Japan on 24 July 2018.At 365.94 metres length and 51.2 metres width, the vessel deployed on THE Alliance’s Asia to North America East Coast trade (EC4 service), made successful calls at ports of Kaohsiung and Hong Kong before calling at Yantian.She will continue her voyage to Cai Mep, Singapore via the Suez Canal to New York, Norfolk, Savannah and Charleston on the United States East Coast.

Singapore headquartered container carrier Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. (ONE) has taken delivery of a new 14,000 TEU-class containership from Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, on July 24, 2018.The new ultra-large containership, One Minato, was built at Imabari’s Hiroshima yard and joins the ONE fleet under sublet from Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.

First Magenta-Color ONE Ship Makes a Call in China

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced that the ONE Commitment, the company’s first magenta-color  containership with a carrying capacity of 8,560 TEU, successfully arrived at the Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) on 24 May 2018. Operated on THE Alliance’s Asia to North America PN2 service, the ONE Commitment is painted with an unmissable magenta as its brand colour which reflects the energetic, innovative and confident perception to customers. ONE Commitment started her maiden voyage from Singapore on 15 May 2018 and has already called at Laem Chabang, Cai Mep and Kaohsiung before arriving at the Port of Yantian, China. She will continue her journey to Tacoma and Vancouver. When returning to Asia, she will call at Ports of Tokyo, Kobe, Kaohsiung and Singapore.

Vietnam Opens Haiphong International Container Terminal

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has announced that its joint venture company Haiphong International Container Terminal held an opening ceremony for the new Haiphong International Container Terminal (HICT) at Lach Huyen Port, Vietnam on May 13. HICT is the first terminal in Northern Vietnam with a berth deep enough to allow calls by 14,000TEU containerships. It will meet customer demands for shorter transit times and lower transport costs, while contributing to economic growth in Northern Vietnam, including Haiphong industrial park, since large-size container vessels, which offer direct links to Asia and North America/Europe, can call at the port.

South Asia Gateway Terminal Welcomes ONE Service

Singapore-based Ocean Network Express (ONE) has introduced its new EC5 route calling at the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Headquartered in Singapore, Ocean Network Express was established on July 7, 2017 through the integration of 'K' Line, MOL and NYK. It’s new EC5 service was launched on April 23rd at the South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT) at the Port of Colombo. South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT), is owned by a consortium of local and global companies, including APM Terminals, which holds a 33% share. Opened in 1999,  it was Sri Lanka’s first private terminal. It has seen almost continuous eyar-on-year volume growth and achieved a container throughput of 1.8 million TEUs in 2017.

Ocean Alliance Launches Day Two Product

The Ocean Alliance has launched its new Day Two Product with an estimated 3.6 million TEU carrying capacity provided by approximately 340 containerships deployed on 41 services. The new offering will commence in April 2018. Alliance partners CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL will offer 20 Transpacific services, six Asia-Europe services, four Asia-Mediterranean services, four Transatlantic services, five Asia-Middle East services and two Asia-Red Sea services. “Ocean Alliance has been a fantastic success from a customer perspective since its launch last spring and we are very enthusiastic to announce our Day Two Product,” said Olivier Nivoix, Senior Vice President Ocean Alliance Lines.

APL Adds Eagle GO to Suite of Eagle Guaranteed Services

As the Trans-Pacific trading season heats up, APL today launched the new Eagle GO Guaranteed product. A first-of-its-kind ocean freight guarantee, it promises equipment and vessel space on board all APL’s North America-destined services that directly call Shanghai, Ningbo and Yantian in China; as well as Cai Mep in Vietnam. “APL’s Eagle GO Guaranteed seeks to address the concerns of equipment and vessel space shortages as the Trans-Pacific trading season goes full steam. It guarantees priority shipments on APL services, allowing shippers to optimally capitalise on the year-end holiday shopping season,“ said Jesper Stenbak, APL Senior Vice President of Trans-Pacific Trade. CMIT Welcomes Vietnam PM

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) on July 21st, becoming the first container terminal in the Cai Mep area, part of Saigon Port, to receive the Vietnamese Head of State. CMIT is a joint venture between APM Terminals, which holds a 49% share, Vietnam National Shipping Lines, with a 36% share, and Saigon Port, with a 15% share. Prime Minister Phuc was welcomed by CMIT acting Managing director Nguyen Xuan Ky, who expressed the facility’s appreciation to the Vietnamese national and provincial governments, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport for supporting policies which have led to the success of the deep-water port complex.

THE Alliance Sets Out Service Plans

The members of THE Alliance announced the details of the plan for their product starting from April 2017. THE Alliance plans to deploy a fleet of more than 240 modern ships in the Asia /Europe, North Atlantic and Trans-Pacific trade lanes including the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf/Red Sea. The start of THE Alliance as the most integrated liner shipping consortia is scheduled for April 2017 (subject to completion of all relevant regulatory requirements). “The product of THE Alliance is a milestone which will significantly improve the service offering for all shippers on the East West trade lanes“, said the member carriers Hapag-Lloyd, “K”Line, Mitsui O.S.K. OCEAN ALLIANCE Sets Out Network

Members of the OCEAN ALLIANCE, COSCO Container Lines, CMA CGM, Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line,  signed a document entitled the Day One Product, which sets out the proposed OCEAN ALLIANCE’s network, including port rotation for each service loop. The Day One network intends to deploy around 350 container vessels with an estimated total carrying capacity of 3.5 million TEUs to provide one of the most comprehensive service coverage in the market on the following trade lanes. The vessel deployment details for each service loop, will be released around end of this November. 20 Transpacific services (estimated 160 port pairs, with 13 Asia - West Coast North America services, 7 Asia - East Coast North America and U.S.

Oakland Added to Transpacific Shipping Route

A Transpacific shipping route linking Asia and the U.S. will add weekly Port of Oakland stops beginning in November. The Port said that  Oakland will become the sixth stop in the service operated by three Asian shipping lines. The service, known as the Calco-C, connects ports in Vietnam, China and California. It’s expected to bring an additional 50 vessel arrivals to Oakland annually. That could increase Oakland cargo volume by as much as 30,000 20-foot-containers a year. The Port handled the equivalent of 2.28 million 20-foot containers last year. Volume growth could lead to more cargo-handling jobs in Oakland, the Port said. “For the benefit of our customers and our community we’re pleased to be joining this service,” said Maritime Director John Driscoll.
