The U.S. Coast Guard earlier this week medevaced a fisherman from a vessel 58 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachussets.Coast Guard Sector Southeast New England watchstanders received a notification from the fishing vessel Jean Marie on Wednesday, reporting that a crewmember was having trouble breathing, and was requesting assistance.A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched, hoisted, and transferred the fisherman to Hyannis Airport…

Wounded Lobsterman Medevaced near Cape Cope

An injured lobsterman was medically evacuated by U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew Tuesday roughly 130 nautical miles east of Cape Cod.   At about 10:15 a.m., a crewmember aboard the lobster boat Eagle contacted watchstanders at the First Coast Guard District command center requesting assistance for a 41-year-old crewmember who had accidentally been impaled.   A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended a medevac and Air Station Cape Cod launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter at about 11 a.m. The air crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man, and is currently in transit to Cape Cod Hospital.

Sailor Medevaced from Bulker off Cape Cod

U.S. Coast Guard air crews medevac Ukrainian from bulk carrier 130 miles east of Cape Cod, Mass. A Ukrainian sailor in distress was medically evacuated by U.S. Coast Guard Crews Monday, 130 miles east of Cape Cod, Mass. Watchstanders at the 1st Coast Guard District Command Center received a medevac request from the motor vessel Alice Oldendorff stating a 28-year-old man was suffering stomach pains. After a conference call with a flight surgeon, the operator of the vessel, and the search and rescue mission coordinator, a medevac was recommended within a 12-hour window. The operator was instructed to change course and make best speed towards Cape Cod to decrease the time it would take to get the man medical care. Crews aboard an HC-144a Casa and a MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter responded to help.

USCG Conducts Medevac

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 69-year-old-female Sunday 56 miles south of Nantucket. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s 1st District command center received a call from the cruise ship Norwegian Gem requesting a medevac of a 69-year-old woman suffering from possible internal injuries at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday. An Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched shortly before 10 a.m. and arrived on scene at approximately 11 a.m at which time they hoisted the woman from the deck of the vessel. The Jayhawk crew brought the woman to Barnstable Municipal Airport at around noon where she was transferred to local Emergency Medical Services personnel. EMS was expected to transport the woman to Cape Cod Hospital.

Coast Guard Medevacs Patient from Tanker

A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 55-year-old-man from a foreign-flagged tanker ship transiting 225 miles southeast of Nantucket Tuesday night after the vessel's captain reported the man was suffering from cardiac complications. A Jayhawk rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cod arrived on scene shortly after 9 p.m. and hoisted 55-year-old Flavio Simonini from the motor tanker Venice, a 768-foot petroleum oil tanker from Malta. The Jayhawk aircrew, including a Coast Guard flight surgeon, took Simonini, in stable condition, to Hyannis Airport for further transport to Cape Cod Hospital. Simonini's current condition is not known.
