Speedcast International Limited has announced two changes to its executive management team: Keith Johnson will become chief operating officer, and Erwan Emilian will lead the Enterprise & Emerging Markets division. Johnson, currently EVP of Speedcast’s Energy Division, will take over for David Kagan as chief operating officer, while also keeping his existing Energy Division responsibilities. Kagan leave Speedcast in early December for personal reasons, but will remain as an advisor to the CEO on a limited-time basis. Johnson joined Speedcast in 2014 after spending over 20 years at Harris CapRock Communications, where he held numerous senior operational roles, including heading global operations and business unit leadership roles.

Harris CapRock Communications signed a five-year contract with Carnival Corp. to provide communications services onboard more than 100 cruise ships in its 10 cruise line brands. Harris will deploy a fully managed, end-to-end Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) solution utilizing the latest generation of iDirect technology, via a hybrid C- and Ku-band solution. Under a multi-year agreement, Harris CapRock will utilize the next- generation Intelsat EpicNG platform to expand its service offerings and offer new applications to its global customers across the energy, maritime and government markets. OceanWorks Contracted by Harris CapRock Communications for the Delivery of Two High Power Nodes as an Expansion to the Successful OCB Project. The Marine Technology Society (MTS) announced the results of its recent elections for positions on its Board of Directors. Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CapRock Communications, a global provider of mission-critical managed satellite communications solutions for the energy, government and maritime industries. Established in 1981, CapRock managed network solutions include multiband, portable and fixed satellite communications services supported by its teleports and network operations centers around the globe. CapRock designs, implements and operates these end-to-end managed network solutions under long-term contracts. Under the terms of the agreement, Harris will purchase privately held CapRock for $525m in cash, subject to post-closing adjustments.

Harris Corporation, (NYSE:HRS) an international communications and information technology company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Global Connectivity Services (GCS) business from Schlumberger Information Solutions, an operating unit of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB). The acquisition is planned to extend Harris’ capabilities as a global provider of mission-critical, end-to-end managed satellite communications services for customers operating in remote and harsh environments – including the energy, government and maritime industries.
