Langh Ship Orders Three New Ships

Finnish shipping company Langh Ship announced it has ordered three 7,800 dwt newbuild cargo ships from Wuhu Shipyard in China.The first vessel is expected to be delivered in summer 2023 followed by its two sisters soon thereafter.The vessels will operate in a regular service between Outokumpu’s steel mills in northern Finland and the Netherlands. Navis Acquires Jade Logistics

Cargotec division Navis has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of New Zealand-based Jade Logistics.Jade Logistics provides Master terminal operating systems (TOS) for mixed cargo terminals.With N4, Octopi and Jade Master Terminal, Navis can offer the flexibility of the right TOS for any prospective customer’s cargo requirements. Navis will establish a General Cargo Center of Excellence in Christchurch, New Zealand to serve the growing demand for mixed cargo solutions globally. PSA, ONE Launch Container Terminal in Singapore

Langh Tech Delivers Scrubbers for 12 NORDEN Vessels

Langh Tech said it will deliver SOx scrubber systems for a dozen vessels owned by Danish shipowner Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S, marking the Finnish scrubber manufacturer’s largest deal so far.Langh Tech Oy Ab will supply for retrofit four tankers and eight bulk carriers in the NORDEN- fleet with SOx scrubbers of open loop-type.The tankers have two boilers and a total of six exhaust gas sources are connected to the scrubber. Automation enables the scrubber plant to be operated in two exhaust gas cleaning modes corresponding to 0.1 or 0.5 percent sulphur in the fuel.

NOCC Opts for Optimarin BWT System for Its Newbuild

Ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist Optimarin has been chosen by Norwegian Car Carriers AS (NOCC) as the supplier of choice for its two newbuild vessels currently under construction at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea. Optimarin will provide 667m³/h capacity systems for the state-of-the-art 6500 car capacity Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) sister ships, which are scheduled for delivery in late 2016 and early 2017. Optimarin CEO Tore Andersen says his firm’s established track record, in what is still a young industry, played a key role in securing this latest contract. “We’ve been exclusively focused on producing simple, reliable and flexible BWT solutions since our formation in 1994,” Andersen comments.

OEG Offshore Acquires OSCA Environmental Services

Cargo-carrying unit, OEG Offshore, announced its gain of OSCA Environmental Services Ltd., saying the acquisition expands its international reach in the Caspian region. OEG has acquired OSCA's 2,500-unit stock has multiple bases including: Baku, Azerbaijan and Aktau, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan. Additional stocking locations include: Sakhalin, Russia, Gabon, Congo and Angola. This acquirement is OEG’s second major global move in less than two months, following the establishment of a Joint Venture with Unique Maritime Group, providing offshore equipment for rental and sale in the ME.

ISO Tank Containers Equipped for Hook Lifting

Langh Ship Cargo Solutions has extended its offering to include tank containers equipped for hook lifting. “Often the on-carriage of tank containers meant for transportation by sea is quite expensive on land, as the need for special lifting equipment makes the handling of the containers difficult,” said Product Manager Markku Yli-Kahri. Intermarine & Scan-Trans unite to head for a leadership position in project & heavy lift cargo transportation. Danish Scan-Trans Holding A/S and U.S. based Intermarine, LLC announce a stock transaction. The two companies will create a platform for premier services in project and heavylift cargo transportation worldwide. The companies will merge their operations under the Intermarine name. GEOSHIPS to Operate, Manage New DP1 Craft

GEOSHIPS creates 40 new jobs with delivery of latest vessel. GEOSHIPS Group, a marine and subsea services provider, has completed charter party negotiations with Singapore based Teras Offshore, for a new Offshore Deck Cargo Vessel, resulting in the planned recruitment of a further 40 offshore staff. Formed in 2003, Westhill-based GEOSHIPS will operate, manage and crew the DP1 (dynamic positioning) Loch Seaforth vessel, which has been contracted on a three year bareboat charter, with options to extend.

Product: Cradle Tweendecks Patent for Langh Ship

In the invention devised by Langh Ship, steel coils are transported on tweendecks that are equipped with integrated cradles. The method was granted a Finnish patent in 2001 and it has now passed the European Patent Office's inspection, which ascertained that the innovation's novelty, inventiveness and industrial applicability meet the requirements of the European Patent Convention. The invention thus received a European patent, which can be registered in all countries signatory to the European Patent Agreement. Cradle tweendecks facilitate steel coil loading, shipment and unloading at the port of destination. The system even enables fully automated cargo handling in the port and it can be used to optimize vessel stability, reduce cargo damage and fuel consumption.
