Singapore's Strategic Marine has announced its latest offshore fast crew boat, a 38-meter extra fast crew transfer catamaran vessel (FCTV). "The new vessel has been designed in collaboration with One2Three naval architects in Sydney Australia, incorporating direct feedback from customers," Strategic Marine said.Greg Daniel, Technical Manager of Strategic Marine, said: “Our offshore customers are increasingly asking for faster transfers but still want to reduce their costs. Herbert-ABS says use of an approved damage stability computer program is the “only logical option” to meet new International Maritime Organization (IMO) Damage Stability Regulations requirements for onboard damage stability verification. Herbert-ABS Software Solutions LLC has published an assessment of the impact of new damage stability regulations on tanker and gas carrier operations. Hendrik Bruhns, Herbert-ABS Software Solutions President, argues that employing an approved damage stability verification software is the most practical and cost-effective means of demonstrating compliance with the regulations. The IMO recently adopted guidelines for demonstrating compliance with the requirements for damage stability reporting in April and May 2014 during MEPC 66 and MSC 93.

Herbert-ABS Software Solutions LLC, a company in marine regulatory, load management, salvage and ship design software, said it has opened an office in Busan to reinforce support for Korean-based shipyards, as well as improve the quality of service to this key market. Herbert-ABS also has an office in Shanghai and earlier this year expanded into Singapore. The Busan office will be led by Arnold (Woo-Sung) Cho, Marketing and Sales Manager, whose primary focus will be to strengthen relationships with the Korean yards. Herbert-ABS Software Solutions LLC, a marine regulatory, load management, salvage and ship design software company, has opened an office in Singapore to reinforce service and support for Asia-based shipowners, operators and shipyards, the company said. The new office will be led by Director and Naval Architect Rob Tagg, who will expand the activities and strategic plans of Herbert Engineering and Herbert-ABS Software, primarily supporting installations and sales of its CargoMax and HECSALV software products. Herbert-ABS is a joint venture with ABS so the expansion to Singapore is also intended to leverage the strong local presence they have in Southeast Asia.

ABS Nautical Systems continually enhances its NS5 Enterprise software suite of products to meet ever-changing industry demands. Currently in development for release in 2013 are a mobility platform, a new warehouse and inventory management module, as well as a new Hull Inspection 3D module. The Ulstein designed platform supply vessel ‘CBO Pacifico’ left the Estaleiro Alianca yard on 10 May 2012. The newbuild went straight into contract for Petrobras. The vessel is the second of the PX106 design delivered to CBO this year. “The finish and quality of these vessels are impeccable. The platform supply vessel (PSV) ‘CBO Atlântico’ was recently delivered, the first of six ULSTEIN designed X-BOW vessels to be built in Brazil, and the very first of the PX106 design. The vessel was constructed at Estaleiro Alianca shipyard in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for shipowner CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore). The SMM exhibition in Hamburg has once again proven that it is the cradle of marine technology and the grand-daddy of all marine exhibitions. On display in 12 separate halls were more than 1,300 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, launching new products and discussing business with an estimated 37,000 visitors. More telling that sheer numbers, in this case, is the feeling of the exhibition and the ubiquitous marine technology theme. The quality of attendee and exhibitor is always high, but this edition of the bi-annual exhibition seemed especially charged due to the many positives currently running throughout the full spectrum of the maritime market.

JMS Naval Architects & Salvage Engineers has nearly completed CargoMax installations for all of Reinauer Transportation's fleet of oil transportation barges. This is in alignment with the recent installation of Reinauer's operations/tracking transportation system, TBSS and general activity in computerizing operations. The CargoMax loading software program allows Reinauer to more efficiently and effectively plan barge loading arrangements of varying cargoes and destinations. CargoMax enables Reinauer to calculate complex cargo arrangements while ensuring the vessel's strength, stability and trim are maintained within acceptable guidelines.
