Lloyd’s Approves Hyundai LNG Carrier Training Facility

Hyundai Merchant Marine subsidiary has been granted Approved Training Provider status for their facilities and LNG carrier training courses to SIGTTO Training Standards. Lloyd's Register has awarded Approved Training Provider (ATP) Certification to Hae Young Maritime Services Co. Ltd. (HMS), a subsidiary of Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. Ltd (HMM), one of Korea’s largest shipping companies. The HMS Training Center at Busan, Korea trains seafarers under The Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) training standards.

Aircraft Carrier Training Facility Opens In UK

A training facility has been opened to prepare Royal Navy sailors to man the first of the Queen Elizabeth-Class carriers, due in 2016. The first of the  65,000-tonne carriers is currently being assembled at Babcock's dockyard in Rosyth, and will be able to take up to 40 aircraft; almost twice the capacity of the Invincible Class carriers. To keep up with the state-of-the-art technology on board sailors and engineers will be trained in a £1m building at HMS Collingwood in Fareham, Hampshire, which has been set out in the same way as an operations room on board the new carrier.

Grand Bahama Shipyard Completes LNG Training

Grand Bahama Shipyard has received Certification to verify that it recently successfully completeda "Liquid Natural Gas Carrier " training and familiarisation programme run by Det Norske Veritas. Aware of the special features of LNG Carriers and the specific requirements that they have during their dry-docking and repair programmes, the shipyard commissioned DNV to devise a customised course to address all the issues that arise with these Specialised Vessels.
