Caterpillar Invests $2.5 Million to End Extreme Poverty

Continuing its efforts to alleviate poverty worldwide, Caterpillar Inc. and the Caterpillar Foundation are making a $2.5 million investment in The Global Poverty Project. The investment will support growing the Global Citizen grassroots movement around the world to end extreme poverty by 2030. “When we can put people on the path to prosperity, it gives them opportunities for education, jobs and ultimately economic growth,” said Caterpillar Foundation President Michele Sullivan. “Our investment with The Global Poverty Project will help people fulfill their potential, lifting themselves and their communities out of poverty. I’ve seen firsthand how these investments can impact lives and really make a difference.

Caterpillar Invests $11m for Africa’s Prosperity

The Caterpillar Foundation, supported by Caterpillar Inc. , continues working to alleviate poverty worldwide, including on the African continent, through a series of investments. Since 2010 alone, corporate social innovation has driven the Caterpillar Foundation to invest $30 million in African programs that address access to clean water, energy, empowering girls and women and microfinance, as well as food and shelter. The Foundation targets investments to organizations working in areas of policy that will enable sustainable growth and development across the continent. “The Caterpillar Foundation is committed to finding ways to spur vibrant growth in Africa,” said Doug Oberhelman, Caterpillar Chairman & CEO.

Caterpillar Volunteers Build Thailand Houses for Disadvantaged

The company had more than 100 of Caterpillar's personnel volunteer to help build homes for low-income families in Rayong Province, Thailand. The home building project is part of Caterppillar's commitment to communities where ther employees live and work. The Caterpillar Foundation invested in Habitat for Humanity Thailand, a non-profit organization, which funded the construction of 12 homes for low-income families in three locations in Rayong Province (Nong Lalok Sub-District, Nong Taphan Sub-District and Samnak Thon Sub-district).
