Stork Awarded Evergreen Gig for UK Assets

Cheniere Completes 5th LNG Train at Sabine Pass

Cheniere's LA Sabine Pass LNG Output Dips

The volume of gas flowing into the facility dropped from about 3.2 billion cubic feet per day on Wednesday to 2.8 bcfd on Thursday and a projected 1.5 bcfd on Friday, Reuters data showed. One bcfd is enough gas to fuel about five million U.S. homes. The plant had been operating near full capacity with about 3.2 bcfd of gas flowing in since mid-January when freezing water during a brutal cold snap forced the company to briefly reduce operations. Officials at Cheniere would not comment on the latest reduction. Earlier this week, the company said its operations were not affected following an order on Feb. 8 from federal regulators to shut two cracked storage tanks that leaked the super-cold fuel.

GasLog Orders New LNG Carrier from SHI

GasLog Ltd. today announces that it has signed a time charter party with Centrica plc. ("Centrica") to charter a vessel for a period of seven years. The vessel, a 180,000 cubic meter LNG carrier with XDF propulsion, has been ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries ("Samsung") in South Korea. Centrica will charter the vessel from GasLog for a period of seven years commencing in the second half of 2019. The daily charter rate is in line with GasLog's average long-term charter rate. GasLog Partners LP ("GasLog Partners", NYSE:GLOP) has the right to acquire the vessel pursuant to the omnibus agreement between GasLog and GasLog Partners. Securing a seven-year charter on this vessel extends GasLog Partners' dropdown pipeline of future vessels from thirteen to fourteen.

BAE's New Chairman Designate Joins the Board

Sir Roger Carr will join the Board as a non-executive director & Chairman designate on 1 October 2013 and will succeed Dick Olver as Chairman in the first quarter 2014, following a transition period. Sir Roger, 66, is currently Chairman of Centrica plc and was until recently President of the CBI, the UK’s main business lobbying group. He is also Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director of the Court of the Bank of England and a member of the UK Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group. He will step down as Chairman of Centrica on or before the Centrica AGM in 2014.

Wind Power Seen Surging as Custom Barges Cut Cost

Offshore wind-power producers from Dong Energy A/S to RWE AG are building custom ships at record rates to reduce the cost of the technology which is  three times as pricey as electricity from coal plants. As many as 20 vessels, some with movable legs which reach the seafloor, will come onto the market in the next few years, reducing chartering costs of as much as 200,000 euros ($261,000) a day, said Marc Seidel, an offshore engineer at Suzlon Energy Ltd., which supplies turbines to Germany’s RWE. A lack of specialized installation ships has forced companies to hire barges designed for oil exploration, holding up work at projects such as EON AG’s Robin Rigg wind farm off Scotland’s western coast.

Centrica, Dong Form Wind-Farm Venture for Irish Sea Projects

Centrica Plc. and Dong Energy A/S said that they had formed a joint venture to develop offshore wind farms in the Round 3 Irish Sea Zone. Dong Energy will pay Centrica as much as 40 million pounds in cash for a 50 percent interest in the venture, according to a regulatory statement today. (Bloomberg)

Alexander Chairs Port of London Authority

The UK Secretary of State for Transport, Lord Adonis, has appointed Helen Alexander, CBE, as Chairman of the Board of the Port of London Authority (PLA), with effect from 1 January 2010. She will succeed Simon Sherrard, who has been PLA Chairman since 2001. Helen Alexander is president of the CBI and has been a non-executive director of the PLA since June this year. She is also Chairman of Incisive Media, and a non-executive director of Rolls Royce plc and Centrica plc.
