DNV GL Nod to Sea Sentry Wash Water Monitor

Chelsea Technologies, a leader in the design and manufacture of sensors for the maritime sector, and a Sonardyne company, has announced that its Sea Sentry wash water monitoring system for ship exhaust gas cleaning systems has been awarded type approval by DNV-GL. This accreditation, combined with certification for its measurement protocols from Class NK and DNV-GL, assures shipowners and operators that all available measures have been taken to verify that Sea Sentry provides accurate and robust data on compliance with IMO Annex VI wash water discharge regulations.

A Sea Sentry wash water monitoring system for ship exhaust gas cleaning systems from maritime sensors manufacturer Chelsea Technologies Group (CTG) has been installed in a Shandong Pure Ocean Technology scrubber, which has been retrofitted to Liberian-flagged bulk carrier BAO Glory, at the Weihai Xinhong shipyard in Weihai, China.The installation represents one of the first scrubber retrofits to be carried out in a Chinese shipyard, a reflection of the industry-wide acceleration in the global scrubber market…

Saudi Aramco Selects CTG Ballast Water Testing Device

Oil producer Saudi Aramco has selected Chelsea Technologies Group (CTG), designer and manufacturer of sensors for the maritime sector, to provide benchmark testing for compliance with ballast water standards. This follows Saudi Aramco’s announcement that all ships calling at its ports and terminals will be required to provide ballast water samples, in order to demonstrate compliance with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM Convention).

The International Maritime Organizations 2004 Ballast Water Management Convention lays down strict guidelines for the treatment and discharge of ballast water. UK Ocean Technologies Expo Biggest Yet

Ocean Business 2013 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton will welcome 300+ worldwide companies to its upcomeng show. One of the most exciting elements of the show is that visitors can actually see equipment in action and ‘test-drive’ products before they purchase. This year’s Ocean Business is running an unmissable programme of free training and demonstrations, running over 180 hours where leading companies will introduce new products, technologies and techniques. Chelsea Demonstrates 'FastOcean' System

Applications for FastOcean include fish survival assessment studies, coastal monitoring, iron fertilization experiments, algal bloom monitoring, water contamination detection, ballast water monitoring and laboratory culture monitoring. Strong Response to New Sub-Sea Pipeline Leak Detection System

Chelsea Technologies Group announced this week a significant increase in both sale and rental contracts for the 2011 Model Sub-Sea Pipeline Leak Detection System. The PLD system now includes the provision of digital output on all fluorimeters  operating these systems, and alignment of power requirements allowing easy integration to common ROV platforms. Systems are now on offer for both shallow (ROV mounted and diver held) and full ocean depth operations. WaveSentry Sea-State Project in Progress

Chelsea Sensor equipment to be fitted to French ferry to progress WaveSentry sea-state forecasting project. Novel sensors, provided by the Chelsea Technologies Group are to be fitted to a cross-channel ferry to collect vessel motion data as part of the WaveSentry project which is being managed by Marine South East. This motion data will be processed to derive certain indirect sea-state measurements which will be merged with a range of other data feeds within the WaveSentry sea-state measurement and forecasting system.

SeaSoar Towed Vehicle for UTM in Spain

Chelsea Technologies Group has recently sold a SeaSoar Towed Undulating System to the UTM CSIC in Spain. UTM required a towed vehicle with capability of undulating down to depths of 500 metres. The SeaSoar was chosen for this reasons, as well as for its ability to provide a flexible payload allowing UTM to mount a range of instrumentation. The SeaSoar was fitted with a Seabird Electronics SBE 911 CTD, with dual C and T sensors fitted each side of the SeaSoar. Spanish Research Council Purchases Seasoar System

Chelsea Technologies Group (CTG) is pleased to announce delivery of a new SeaSoar Towed Undulating system to the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas), Barcelona for their new vessel, RV Sarmiento de Gamboa. This SeaSoar has been fitted with a Seabird Electronics SBE911 CTD, with dual CT heads fitted externally on either side of the SeaSoar body. The SeaSoar will provide the CSIC with the capability to gather oceanographic data from near surface to depths of 500 metres whilst underway at speeds up to 12 knots.
