Nakilat Takes Delivery of Another LNG Carrier

Nakilat took delivery of a newbuild LNG carrier, “Global Sealine”, which will be commercially and technically managed in-house by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL). Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea, this is the final LNG newbuild carrier to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat (60%) and Maran Ventures Inc. (Maran Ventures) (40%). Three of its sister vessels were delivered between 2020-2021 and are all under time charters. With a cargo carrying capacity of 174,000 cu.

Nakilat has taken delivery of a newbuild LNG carrier dubbed Global Sea Spirit, a ship to be commercially and technically managed in-house by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL). Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea, this is the third of four LNG newbuild carriers to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat (60%) and Maran Ventures Inc. (40%). The first two LNG carriers’ newbuilds (ME-GI type) were delivered in May 2020 and January 2021 respectively and are currently in service.With a cargo carrying capacity of 174,000 cu.

Höegh LNG Wins FSRU Deal with Cheniere

Norway-based floating LNG giant Höegh LNG has signed a time charter contract for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Galleon with Cheniere Marketing International.The time charter commences in September 2019 after the delivery of the unit, Höegh LNG’s tenth, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.The terms of the time charter ensure the Höegh Galleon’s availability to serve the AIE project in Port Kembla, Australia, where Höegh LNG is the FSRU provider on a back-to-back basis. AIE recently announced a contract to supply gas to its foundation customer from 1 January 2021.Under the contract with Cheniere, Höegh Galleon will earn a fixed daily charter rate.Sveinung J.S.

Cheniere's Corpus Christi Facility Ships First LNG Cargo

Houston-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter Cheniere Energy said the first commissioning cargo of LNG has loaded and departed from its Corpus Christi liquefaction facility in Texas.The LNG was loaded on the LNG carrier Maria Energy, chartered by Cheniere Marketing, said a press release.“Exporting the first commissioning cargo of LNG from Texas demonstrates Cheniere’s ability to deliver projects safely and ahead of schedule, including the first greenfield LNG export facility in the lower 48 states,” said Jack Fusco, Cheniere’s President and CEO.“This milestone further reinforces Cheniere’s position as the leader in U.S. LNG, with a world-scale liquefaction platform that provides significant competitive advantages as we continue to execute on our growth strategy…

Cheniere Signs 15-year LNG Supply Pact with Trafigura

U.S. natural gas producer Cheniere Energy Inc said on Tuesday Singapore-based commodity trader Trafigura Pte Ltd would buy about 1 million tonnes of natural gas per year from its unit for 15 years, starting 2019. The agreement with Cheniere Marketing, LLC would help the Houston-based company to fund its expansion plans, Chief Executive Jack Fusco said. The company has been expanding its presence in Asia to benefit from the rising demand for liquefied natural gas from the region.

JERA Imports Japan's First Liquefied Shale Gas Cargo from U.S.

Japan's JERA Co said on Friday it imported the country's first liquefied shale gas cargo from the United States as part of efforts to diversify its supply. This also marks Japan's first import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced in the contiguous United States. Japan previously had imported U.S. LNG only from Alaska. JERA, a fuel joint venture between Tokyo Electric Power and Chubu Electric Power, said the vessel Oak Spirit, which passed through the Panama Canal, arrived at Chubu Electric's Joetsu LNG terminal facing the Sea of Japan on Friday. JERA is the world's biggest importer of LNG. The Tokyo-based firm bought the LNG from Cheniere Marketing International LLP. The 70,000-tonne cargo was produced at the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal in Louisiana and was loaded on Dec.

JERA Buys First-ever U.S. LNG Cargo

Japan's JERA Co, the world's biggest importer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), on Thursday said it made its first-ever purchase of LNG from the lower 48 U.S. states, as part of its goal to diversify supplies. JERA, a fuel joint venture between Tokyo Electric Power and Chubu Electric Power, said it bought the LNG from Cheniere Marketing International LLP, but did not give pricing details. Loading of shale gas produced at the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal in Louisiana onto LNG vessel Oak Spirit was completed on Wednesday, it added. Industry sources said this is likely to be Japan's first import of LNG from the project. The vessel, which will pass through the Panama Canal, will arrive at Chubu Electric's Joetsu LNG terminal in early January, a JERA spokesman said.

Cheniere to Ship LNG Cargoes to France

Cheniere Energy agrees to send 24 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), or 89T BTUs, from its Sabine Pass Terminal in Louisiana in 2017 and 2018 to French state-controlled power utility  Electricite de France (EDF), its second deal in two months to ship the fuel to France after EDF agreed to buy as many as 26 cargoes last month. Cheniere Marketing International LLP, wholly owned subsidiary of Cheniere Energy,  has entered into another sales arrangement with EDF for the delivery of LNG cargoes on an ex-ship basis or "DES" from the Sabine Pass LNG terminal. Under the deal, the sales price of the shipments will be linked to the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) in the Netherlands, continental Europe's biggest and most liquid gas trading point.

ISS Wins Cheniere Energy Contract

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced it has won a new hub agency contract for the Asia-Pacific with LNG energy giant, Cheniere Energy.  Under the two-year contract, ISS will manage approximately 100 port calls annually for Cheniere Energy across the Asia-Pacific, with the first already completed in China.  Cheniere Energy is developing LNG export terminals along the Gulf of Mexico. Through its subsidiary, Cheniere Marketing, it has sold a portion of the production from these facilities under delivered ex-ship (DES) contracts whereby Cheniere Marketing will deliver such LNG to the customers’ terminals. ISS said its services will facilitate these deliveries as well as other deliveries arranged by Cheniere Marketing.

US to Export LNG to China

Buyers from China are looking at long term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from US firm Cheniere Energy, news agency Reuters quoted a company official as saying. This would be the first LNG deal between the world's two biggest energy users. Cheniere Energy is set to become the first U.S. LNG exporter, with shipments to start by the end of this year. However, no Chinese companies have signed up for any U.S. LNG cargoes so far. Nicolas Zanen, vice president for Asia at Cheniere Marketing Pte, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cheniere Energy Inc, said that some Chinese buyers had already begun moving to secure supplies, although without providing any details.

Teekay Charters Out Two LNG Newbuildings

Teekay LNG Partners signs two, 5-year time-charter contracts with Cheniere Marketing to provide Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transportation services. The fixed-rate time-charter contracts will be serviced by the two 173,400 cubic meter LNG carrier newbuildings ordered by Teekay LNG in December 2012. The newbuildings are currently under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering of South Korea and are scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2016. These new ships will be constructed with M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) twin engines, which are designed to be significantly more fuel-efficient and have lower emission levels than other engines currently being used in LNG shipping.
