RIMS have joined forces with Dutch Drone Company (DDC) to create a new partnership which will allow RIMS to offer the market an enhanced package of drone services for both indoor and outdoor drone flights in the Netherlands.The use of drones for inspections enables remote live on-screen object inspection, which can result in the elimination of the use of costly and risky access equipment such as scaffolding and cherry pickers, and in the instance of external inspections resource intensive rope access teams.

RIMS (Robotics In Maintenance Strategies) have secured a further class approval from Korean Register of Shipping (KRS) for the use of Remote Inspection Techniques (drones) during surveys of enclosed spaces. The KRS certification for the use of Remote Inspection Techniques (drones) during surveys of enclosed spaces, adds to the now highly impressive portfolio of class approvals RIMS have achieved in such a short period of time. This further certification means that even more shipowners and managers can now reap benefits which this new technology offers during class surveys.

Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited (GBSL), a shipyard in the Caribbean, said it had a productive summer program consisting of work on vessels from the tanker, container and towage segments of the maritime industry. Additionally, renovations and upgrades were performed on the floating dry docks and workshops, all in conjunction with yard improvements in anticipation for a busy fall and winter work period. The summer saw the yard busy with repeat customers from respected players in the tanker, container and towage segments operating in the Caribbean region.

After having docked and repaired the MSV Seawell in 2012 and DSV Well Enhancer earlier this year, Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen (DSV) was contracted by Helix UK to perform a major upgrade on the light well intervention/dive support vessel MSV Seawell. The Seawell is expected to arrive at the yard during second half of December 2014. As the upgrade will be executed over the winter season, DSV has offered its covered drydock with a 300 tons overhead crane. These days, Raymond is still at his Intracoastal Iron Works yard full time, but his son Peter is doing a lot of the day-to-day management. With three boats under construction in March there was plenty to keep them both busy. The yard has recently added a new 165-ton ladder boom crane and two 35 ton cherry pickers. Business is good. One of the new boats nearing completion in mid-March was the Boo Sonier for LeBeouf Brothers Towing. This will be the eleventh boat built at Intracoastal for the LeBeouf fleet.

Harvey Gulf International Marine, Inc., has completed the leasing of property in the Port of Fourchon for the support of operations in the deep waters and the shelf of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Harvey Gulf plans to upgrade the existing property to support their fleet of offshore towing, supply and diving vessels with Dynamic Positioning Capability. This property will also be capable of supporting other operators in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. These conversions will be completed by November 2006, and will enhance the company’s position as the industry leader.

Bollinger’s repair and conversion shipyard at Port Fourchon, La., on the Gulf of Mexico, can now accommodate rigs, ships and boats with drafts to 27 ft., now that dredging is complete from the sea buoys in the Gulf to Bollinger’s Fourchon 350-ft. slip, which has also been deepened. “The deepened waterway and slip permit us to offer services to larger jack-up and matted rigs as well as bigger ships and boats. We also have additional shore power providing electrical power for vessels’ hotel loads as well as additional cherry pickers and forklifts that can lift from 20 to 55 tons," said Walter Berry, executive VP and COO.
