MTNW Installs Anchor Winch Monitor for KHAN Offshore

Measurement Technology Northwest (MTNW) announced successful Anchor Winch Tension Monitoring system installation and commissioning on the KH-A1 Accommodation Crane Barge. KH-A1 is owned and operated by KHAN Offshore, an engineering, construction and service company based in Geoje, Korea in partnership with Prime Sources Limited, based in Lagos, Nigeria. This vessel currently supports Chevron Nigeria Limited’s operations. The project called for eight RL-20 running line tensiometers, and four dual winch displays, to monitor the anchor winch lines.

Chevron Vessel Sinks off Nigeria Coast

A support vessel capsized and sank during a tanker loading operation at a Single Mooring Buoy roughly 30 kilometers offshore in Nigeria’s Escravos area. Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), operator of the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture, has confirmed that the vessel Jascon #4 belonging to its contractor, West African Ventures Limited, capsized and sank early Sunday, May 26. A Chevron statement said that initial reports indicated that heavy ocean swells caused the Jascon #4 to capsize while performing tension tow operations of the tanker at SBM #3. Emergency Response has commenced, including Search and Rescue operation with surface vessels, helicopters and divers. Chevron Completes Nigerian Relief Well

Chevron Corporation said that its subsidiary, Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), has sealed and abandoned the shallow water Funiwa 1A natural gas well after completing the drilling of a relief well. Production at the North Apoi field, which had been shut in as a precaution, has also been restored and the field is now producing approximately 2,000 barrels of oil per day. On Jan. 16, 2012, a fire started aboard the shallow-water jack-up drilling rig KS Endeavor. Contracted by Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) and operated by FODE Drilling Nigeria Limited, the rig was drilling a natural gas exploration well approximately six miles (10 km) off the coast of Nigeria and in roughly 40 feet (12 m) of water. There were 154 personnel on the rig and a support barge, and 152 were safely evacuated.
