Australian Welfare Organizations Call for Suspension of Live Animal Exports

The Australian Alliance for Animals has written an open letter to animal exporters imploring them to voluntarily suspend all live animal exports to or through the Red Sea while the risk of attack remains and to suspend any extended journeys to the Middle East via the Cape of Good Hope.The move follows the recently aborted voyage of the Bahijah. Hess Signals Guyana's Seventh Oil Platform

Tidewater Names CFO, COO

U.S. offshore support vessel company Tidewater has announced the promotion of two key members of the company’s executive team, Sam R. Rubio and David E. Darling, to the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, respectively.Rubio has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, following his accomplishments serving as the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer and Controller since joining Tidewater following the combination with GulfMark Offshore, Inc. in 2018. USMI Awarded Contract to Build Special Ops Vesels

United States Marine, Inc. (USMI) has been awarded a $108 million contract to produce vessels for the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).The Gulfport, Miss. based shipbuilder will use the five-year, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contact to build combatant craft assault vessels to support the USSOCOM missions around the world.USMI Chief Executive Office Barry Dreyfus, Jr., indicated the contract would allow the company to retain and possibly expand its workforce.“USMI looks forward to continuing our work on behalf of the warfighter and we appreciate the confidence the United States Special Operations Command continues to have in us. CN Invests $245mln in Expansion

Canadian National Railway (CN) said it plans to invest more than $245 million in Saskatchewan in 2019 to expand and strengthen the company’s rail network across the province.“Following a record capital program in 2018, CN brought on 25% more qualified train conductors in Western Canada and added over 10% more active high horse power locomotives to its network. New Rescue Vessel Delivered to Sentinel Marine

Aberdeen headquartered Sentinel Marine said it has taken delivery of the latest in its fleet of multi-role emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs). Biscay Sentinel was delivered at the Cosco Guangzhou shipyard in China this month and is expected to arrive in Aberdeen in early May. Aldubaikhi Named Bahri’s Next CEO

Saudi Arabian maritime transport and logistics company Bahri has appointed Abdullah Aldubaikhi as its new chief executive office. Aldubaikhi’s appointment, which takes effect January 1, 2018, comes as the company gears for a new phase of expansion following several months of growth, according to Bahri chairman, Abdulrahman M. Al-Mofadhi. Aldubaikhi joins Bahri from Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), where he served as CEO for six years. He previously held senior management roles at several firms, including Afwaf Investment, Awalnet and DowLog Technology Company.

Hapag-Lloyd Begins Training Programs

Sixty-four young men and women started their careers at Hapag-Lloyd on yesterday (August 01). Chief Executive Office Rolf Habben Jansen warmly welcomed the new apprentices this morning during an event held at Hapag-Lloyd’s headquarters in Hamburg. In the land division, 21 young men and 17 young women began their training programs to become shipping agents, forwarding and logistics clerks, office management clerks and warehousing specialists. In addition, some of the on-shore apprentices are also starting dual-track courses of study in Logistics Management, Business Administration, Maritime Management, Information Systems and Applied Informatics. Four more grant holders will also join the IT department in October.

Paragon Acquires Majority Stake in Prospector

Paragon Offshore plc reported that it has acquired 52,749,014 shares of Prospector Offshore Drilling S.A., a publicly traded offshore drilling company listed on Oslo Axess. Paragon acquired the shares at a price of 14.50 Norwegian kroner (NOK) per share, or $2.13 per share based on the exchange rate of one United States dollar to 6.80 NOK. Following this transaction, Paragon owns a total of 52,749,014 shares of Prospector, equal to 55.8 percent of the outstanding shares of Prospector.

First Indian vessel moves ODCs in one go

Allcargo’s multi purpose vessel “Allcargo Susheela” successfully loaded 9 pieces of Heavy lift & ODC cargo from Jawaharlal Nehru Port’s shallow berth last week. It is for the first time that an Indian flag vessel has moved multiple heavy lift cargo in one go. Same vessel had earlier carried 2 nos. generators weighing 105 MT each from Mumbai to Cochin. During last few months she was engaged in carrying project cargo in the Persian Gulf. ABS Certifies Container Giant Evergreen To ISPS Code With Issuance of ISSC

ABS has certified the first Evergreen Marine Corporation (Taiwan) Ltd. containership to the IMO’s International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) The International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC) is the first of what is expected to be a fleet-wide conformance to the Code’s provision well in advance of the July 2004 implementation date. The ISSC was issued by ABS to Evergreen’s 1,164 teu, Hong Kong flag container ship the MV Uni Accord. According to Capt.
