CMA CGM Alters Sailings for Chinese New Year

The CMA CGM Group said it has decided to anticipate the reduced production during the Lunar New Year period in China starting on February 4, 2014, and to adjust its offer to meet reduced demand on its services out of China. CMA CGM PEGASUS will sail to North China and Korea with calls in Xingang, Dalian, Pusan and Qingdao with transshipment of exports on FAL1 on board CMA CGM Laperouse in Xiamen. Cargo will be charged on MEX1 with additional calls in Genoa. Cargo will be charged on MEX1 with additional calls in Genoa. •    Cancel 1 sailing on REX3 on board Sils in Port Kelang on February 27.

First voyage of the CMA CGM Marco Polo

Hamburg was the first continental European port of call on the maiden voyage of the CMA CGM Marco Polo. The mega-ship, with a capacity of 16,020 standard containers, is being handled at the HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai. The French shipping company CMA CGM sets great store by Hamburg because of its geographic location and hinterland links. On Wednesday morning, the CMA CGM Marco Polo became the first container mega-ship with a capacity of more than 16,000 standard containers (TEU) to call at the Port of Hamburg.

Giant Container Ship Calls at DP World Port

The largest container ship of French shipping company CMA CGM, the Christophe Colomb, recently called at DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port for the first time, reinforcing the port’s role as a regional gateway for the new generation of mega liner vessels. The 365-metre long ship, which has a nominal capacity of 13,800 twenty-foot equivalent container units, or TEU, was welcomed by DP World officials. A plaque marking the occasion was presented by DP World UAE Region account manager Ravikumar Panicker to Master of the Ship Pierre Gilles Coat, in the presence of senior officials.

CMA CGM Christophe Colomb Calls at Le Havre

The CMA CGM Group’s flagship and the world’s largest French-flagged containership became the 100th vessel of more than 10,000 teus to call at Le Havre. The Christophe Colomb is first in a series of eight vessels named after explorers. The vessel is 1,199 ft long with a beam of 168 ft – equivalent to four football pitches. She can transport up to 13,800 teus. The CMA CGM Christophe Colomb is deployed on the FAL 5 (French Asia Line), the main CMA CGM Group service on the Asia-Europe trade, calling at Le Havre every week with the following rotation: Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Rotterdam (inbound), Hamburg, Rotterdam (outbound), Zeebrugge, Port Kelang, Singapore and Ningbo.

CMA CGM Group Takes Delivery of Corte Real

CMA CGM Group took delivery this morning, Monday August,16th, in South Korea of the CMA CGM Corte Real (13,830 teu) built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering), the third of a series of eight vessels named after the great explorers. CMA CGM Corte Real (365 meter long, 51,2 meter large and 15.5 meter draught) is up to date the largest vessel sailing under the UK flag, a European flag which is part of the white list of the “Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control” a guarantee of safety, security and environmental protection. The vessel will join the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb and CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci on the FAL5 service (French Asia Line) linking Asia to North Europe.

CMA CGM Takes Delivery of CMA CGM Leo

The CMA CGM Group announced the delivery in South Korea of the CMA CGM Leo (11,400 TEU). Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyards, the CMA CGM Leo is the fifth of a series of 12 vessels of 11,400 TEU ordered by the CMA CGM Group and that will be delivered between 2010 and 2011. This new giant of the seas, registered in Valetta, will be one of the largest containerships sailing under Maltese flag. One other vessel of the Group to be delivered soon will also be registered in Malta, a European flag which is part of the white list of the “Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control” a guarantee of safety, security and environmental protection. CMA CGM Group has been present in Malta for many years and operates the Malta Freeport Terminal.

CMA CGM Group Takes Delivery of the Amerigo Vespucci

CMA CGM Group took delivery on July 22, in South Korea, of the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci (13,830 teu) built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering). The second of a series of eight vessels named after the great explorers, the vessel is the sister ship of the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb and has the following dimensions: 1,197.5 ft long, 168 ft large and 50.8 ft draught. New Flagship CMA CGM Christophe Colomb

Last week the new flagship from the French shipping company CMA CGM came from Le Havre and, with a holding area capacity of 13,800 TEU as well as 800 connections for reefers and a deadweight capacity of 157,000 tons, it is currently one of the largest container ships worldwide. The container giant measures 1,199 ft in length and reaches a maximum draught of 50.8 ft when used to full capacity. CMA CGM deploys the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb in the Asia-Europe-Liner service “French-Asia-Line 1” (FAL1).

CMA CGM Christens Largest French-Flagged Containership

CMA CGM Group announced the christening of its flagship, the 13,800-TEU CMA CGM Christophe Colomb, at Terminal de France, Port 2000, in Le Havre by its godmother, Christine Lagarde, France’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Industry and Employment. The first of a series of eight vessels named after great explorers, this giant of the seas is the largest containership ever to sail under the French flag. These very large ships will enable the Group to enhance its business model and improve its competitiveness.
