USS Fort Worth Completes CARAT Exercise with Bangladesh Navy

The littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) completed its first Cooperation Afloat Readiness And Training (CARAT) exercise with Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal, Oct. CARAT Bangladesh 2015 is a tangible representation of the continued U.S. commitment to our security partnership and our commitment to peace, prosperity, and security in South Asia. "The sea phase of CARAT Bangladesh was short but filled with a large number of naval warfighting core competencies that advanced our navies' interoperability," said Cmdr. Christopher Brown, commanding officer of Fort Worth. Since the initial CARAT Bangladesh in 2011, steady progress has been made in increasing the complexity and scope of the bilateral engagement.

Insurance Brokers Embrace UK Club Underwriting App

The UK Club has launched its “iPANDI” iPad based app to provide up to date underwriting information for members and their insurance brokers, even when on the move. The iPANDI app downloads underwriting data via the Club’s IT systems and presents it conveniently in both graphic and table formats. The data can be viewed off line, for example on planes or away from the office. Security is maintained by a unique licence key to access member information. The licence key is only entered once to initiate the data download to the iPad.

Brown, Director of Underwriting, UK Club

Christopher Brown will lead underwriting policy for the UK Club with effect from 20th February 2009 in the new role of Director of Underwriting. USS Ronald Reagan Departs on Maiden Deployment

Sailors aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) man the rails as the ship departs Naval Air Station North Island. More then 5,500 Sailors from the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group deployed today in support of the Global War on Terrorism and maritime security operations. This will be the maiden deployment for the Navy’s newest Nimitz-Class nuclear powered aircraft carrier. U.S. USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) departed San Diego Jan. 4 on a deployment to conduct naval operations in support of the global war on terrorism, as well as national and theater cooperative security commitments in the western Pacific. This will be the maiden deployment for the Navy’s newest Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

Small Boats Provide Links to Local Maritime Community

The guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) moves thru the Bay of Bengal after making a port call in Singapore. Lake Champlain is part of the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group, currently deployed in support of the global war on terrorism and maritime security operations (MSO). U.S. While there is a ring of steel around the Iraqi oil terminal platforms in the Northern Persian Gulf, small rubber boats with special boat crews do much of the heavy lifting for security and stability in the area. Coalition ships move continuously around the Al Basra Oil Terminal and the Khawr al Amaya Oil Terminal, and each sends out small boat crews aboard rigid-hulled inflatable boats to conduct VBSS (visit, board, search and seizure) missions. Brown Appointed as Asia Pacific Regional Director for U.K. P&I Club

Christopher Brown has been appointed Asia Pacific Regional Director of the UK P&I Club from October 1st. He will also be responsible for providing services to all Thomas Miller’s managed Clubs, particularly UK P&I, TT, UK Defence, ITIC and the Lloyd’s insurer Dex. Based in Hong Kong, Brown will head Miller’s regional management team, leading the offices in the region and supported by experienced managers Nick Sansom in Singapore and Barton Phillips in Sydney. He succeeds Colin Lewin who is moving to London as Chief Operating Officer of the TT Club. He will work closely with Andreas Mueller, who succeeds Mr Lewin as TT’s Regional Manager for Asia Pacific. Brown joined Miller’s in London in August 2001, with the intention of moving to Hong Kong this year.

Chris Brown to join Miller's

Christopher Brown, formerly Claims Director for Gard, will bring his experience to the UK P&I Club when he joins managers Thomas Miller on August 1. Mr. Brown, 40, trained and qualified as a maritime lawyer in the United States. A Norwegian speaker, he has been with Gard since 1989 and was stationed at its Hong Kong office after 1997. Brown leaves Norway for family reasons and is greatly looking forward to working for the world's largest P&I club. He will spend a year in Miller's London office before transferring to Thomas Miller (Asia Pacific) in Hong Kong as Claims Director for Asia, where he will focus particularly on China.
