Key Leadership Changes at Hydroid

Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, today announced changes in its leadership team. Autonomous Underwater Vessel Launched by Hydroid

Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and manufacturer of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), announces its newest AUV, the REMUS 600 Survey (REMUS 600-S) at the XVIII International Hydrographic Conference (IHC) in Monaco. The REMUS 600-S is a high performance version of the successful REMUS 600 AUV and features advanced technology that has only previously been available in Kongsberg's accomplished HUGIN vehicles, making it ideal for such applications as International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) quality surveys.

IEEE OES Presents Awards at Oceans '11

IEEE OES announced its annual award recipients at OCEANS ’11. The conference was held September 19-22 in beautiful Kona Hawaii. Both awards were presented at the Awards Luncheon held on Tuesday, September 20th. The Distinguished Technical Achievement Award recipient Christopher von Alt was recognized for his significant accomplishments in oceanic engineering. He is a leader in the development and use of autonomous underwater vehicles in oceanography, underwater acoustics, and ocean engineering. The Distinguished Service Award recipient James T. Barbera was honored for outstanding contributions towards the objectives of the Oceanic Engineering Society. He has been active in the management of  IEEE OES for many years serving on the Administrative Committee for twelve of those years.

Hydroid REMUS AUV Helps Find WWI U-boat

Pocasset, MA – May 9, 2011 – Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, the leading manufacturer of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, announced today that its REMUS 100 AUV aided in the discovery of the World War I German submarine U-106, which had been missing since October 1917.
