Ecoships Claims 15% Ship Efficiency Gain

Ecoships introduced a customized version of the Six Sigma DMAIC approach to process and performance evaluation in order to optimize the energy-efficiency of the vessels under its management. The technique has already resulted in Ecoships’ managed ships benefiting from up to 15% greater fuel efficiency, resulting in substantial reductions in CO2, NOx and SOx emissions. “We specialise in eco-friendly and fuel-efficient shipping tools, techniques and technologies,” said Capt. Ciane Returns to Çiçek for Second Vessel

The Italian shipowner Ciane Spa has purchased a second double-hull bunker tanker from the Turkish shipbuilder Çiçek Shipyard. The vessel is due to be handed over to the Italians at the beginning of February and will start bunkering operations immediately. In May 2009, Çiçek delivered Chem Flower, the first of a series of four 3,100dwt IMO II chemical tankers it had had under construction for its associated shipowning company White Tulip Shipping, to Ciane. Çiçek Delivers First of Four 3100 DWT Tankers

The Turkish shipbuilder Çiçek Shipyard has delivered the 3,087dwt double-hull tanker Frecciamare to the Italian shipowner Ciane Anapo Spa. Based in one of Italy's major ports, Augusta, on the east coast of Sicily, Ciane Anapo is part of the Novella Group, headed by Marco Novella, and specializes in coastal tanker and bunker operations. Frecciamare was completed as Chem Flower, the first of four identical vessels now being built by Çiçek Shipyard for its associated shipowning company White Tulip Shipping, based in Malta.

Cicek Launches Bulk Carrier Design at SMM

The Turkish shipbuilder Cicek Shipyard has launched a new 25,000dwt bulk carrier design at the SMM 2008 exhibition in Hamburg (23 - 26 September). Full details are available from the company on Stand 151, Hall A. The current handy-size bulk carrier fleet is now ageing and Cicek believes that many owners will soon be placing orders for replacement tonnage that both meets new regulations and offers improved efficiency. Its new vessel, which was designed in-house, qualifies on both counts. “Our new double-hull design meets all current and anticipated environmental and safety regulations. Cicek Shipyard Launches Container Ships

Portnews.com reported that based Cicek Shipyard has launched its first container ship. The 1300 TEU ship was named Ayse Naz Bayraktar and is due for delivery in July 2008. She is the first of two 22,000 DWT multipurpose container ships ordered from the yard by Bayraktar Shipping. The design of these two ships allows for a high intake of 9 feet 6 inches high containers and two hatches can accommodate 45 feet containers, including the 2.5 meter wide palletwide containers now widely used in the intra European trades. However, they have been designed in such a way that they could be switched to break bulk or bulk operations if required. The vessels’ nominal container capacity is stated to be 1287 TEU, 775 TEU being on deck and 512TEU below deck.
