Dover Selects Cambridge Pixel's Radar Tech

DSME Selects NAPA Steel to Transform Ship Design Processes

Maritime software, services and data analysis provider NAPA has announced that shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has selected 3D model-based NAPA Steel software to streamline design processes and meet the needs of 21st century naval architects and structure designers. DSME chose NAPA Steel thanks to its transformative effect on the ship design process, following an extensive benchmarking process involving multiple vendors. NAPA Chooses AutoCAD OEM Platform

NAPA and Tech Soft 3D have announced that NAPA Drafting software has been developed using the AutoCAD OEM platform from Autodesk. This allows NAPA Drafting to deliver the market standard in 2D drawing functionality automatically from NAPA 3D databases, enhancing productivity for yards and speeding compliance processes. NAPA Drafting is also able to automatically generate rich 2D section drawings from the 3D NAPA ship model created in NAPA Steel. BAE Systems Australia Invests in SSI Software

Australian defense contractor BAE Systems Australia has recently made an investment in a broad range of SSI software and services. BAE has purchased new ShipConstructor software seats and Subscriptions while also investing in software license rentals under SSIā€™s flexible pay as you go model. Included as part of BAEā€™s investment were upgrades to its SSI ShipConstructor Workshare software to allow the company to distribute CAD/CAM work across multiple locations. BAE will also be implementing SSIā€™s innovative information sharing application called EnterprisePlatform PublisherLT which will allow BAE to streamline its engineering processes. BAE realized that to maximize the value of its software, proper staff training was essential.

RS Reaches Several Agreements at Neva

During the maritime Neva exhibition, taking place this week in St Petersburg, Russia, a number of agreements were signed promoting use of advanced IT solutions and enhancement of professional training within the maritime industry. Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet, classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Petrobalt Design Office and the Dutch company Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG) signed a quadripartite agreement on the establishment of NUPAS-CADMATIC Training and Innovation Center. The center will work at the Makarov University. It will be part of a principally new training structureā€¦

RS, NAPA Strengthen Cooperation

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), an IACS-member classification society and NAPA, a leading software house for ship design and operation today announced that RS will take NAPA software into use to be able to better serve their customers. Further expansion of RS presence on new and traditional markets demands first-class software tools to enhance clientā€™s satisfaction. Shipyards, design offices and engineering companies require their drawings and calculations being reviewed and assessed by Class in shorter time with no compromise on quality and safety. Rolls-Royce Selects Paramarine Ship Design Software

Paramarine software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been selected by Rolls-Royce who is broadening its ship design capabilities. Paramarine will be Rolls-Royceā€™s marine design software tool of choice in support of their newly formed team dedicated to the development of naval ship designs. Rolls-Royce has been at the forefront of innovative ship design for nearly 40 years, designing over 800 vessels, used mainly in the commercial sector. This new ship design team will create innovative designs for customers such as navies, coast guards and other maritime agencies. The primary focus will be on offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) and naval auxiliary opportunities, rather than large combatant ships such as frigates and destroyers.

Sea Marshals Expands Operations Center

Sea Marshals has expanded its UK Operations Centre and introduced the latest tracking technology to protect vessels under its protection. The company has transferred its Operations Centre to larger premises in Cardiff to accommodate its growing team of security consultants. The unit is staffed year-round, 24 hours per day, seven days a week, by expert personnel, most with Naval or Army backgrounds and experience in planning and tracking.
