ClassNK Tops 230 mi GT

Leading classification society ClassNK announced that its register topped 230 million gross tons for the first time at the end November 2014. The announcement was made following a meeting of the Society’s Classification Committee, which certified that the NK Register listed 8,826 vessels totaling 231.34 million gross tons at the end of November 2014. As ClassNK finished 2013 with some 220.9 million gross tons on its register, the achievement means that ClassNK has added a net total of more than 10 million gross tons to its register in the first 11 months of the year, continuing the leading classification society’s stunning growth over the past several years.

SCI Announces Silver Bell Honorees

ClassNK Registered More than 20 Million GT in 2013

Classification society ClassNK announced its official registration figures for 2013, revealing that new registrations of existing and newly built vessels totaled more than 20 million gross tons. The announcement was made on January 20, 2014 following a meeting of the ClassNK Classification Committee, which reviews and certifies all changes made to the ClassNK register. Figures released by the committee show that a total of 859 vessels totaling more than 20.5 million gross tons were added to the ClassNK register in 2013…

ClassNK Tops 220 Million GT

Classification society ClassNK announced that the ClassNK register topped 220 million gross tons for the first time at the end of November 2013. The announcement was made following the November meeting of the ClassNK Classification Committee, which certified the ClassNK register listed 8,511 vessels totalling 220,212,135 gross tons as of November 30, 2013. As the ClassNK register broke the 210 million gross ton mark in November 2012, this means that more than 10 million gross tons have been added to the ClassNK register over the past 12 months alone.

ClassNK Registers 25 Million Gross Tons in 2012

Classification society ClassNK has announced its official registration figures for 2012, revealing that the Tokyo-based society registered nearly a thousand vessels totaling more than 25 million gross tons in 2012. The announcement was made on 28 January 2013 following the January meeting of the ClassNK Classification Committee, which reviews and certifies all registrations and certifications made to the ClassNK register. ClassNK Tops 210 Million Gross Tons

ClassNK continues its growth in 2012, announced  that its register topped 210 million gross tons for the first time at the end of November 2012. The announcement was made following a meeting of the Society’s Classification Committee, which certified that at the end of November 2012, the ClassNK register listed 8,163 vessels totaling 210,218,450 gross tons. As ClassNK celebrated becoming the first classification society in history to have more than 200 million gross tons on its register at the end of May this year…

ClassNK First Nickel Ore Carrier Registered

The world’s largest classification society ClassNK (Chairman & President: Noboru Ueda), announced that the world’s first specialized vessel for the carriage of Nickel Ore has been built and registered to the NK class. The vessel, the Jules Garnier II, was built by Naikai Zosen Corporation and delivered to Japanese shipping major JX Shipping Co. Ltd on 19 September 2012, and is the first vessel in the world to be recognized as a Specially Constructed Cargo Ship for the carriage of Nickel Ore in accordance with the IMO’s IMSBC Code.

ClassNK Breaks Records for Class Entries

ClassNK Register Closing in on the 200 Million Gross Ton Mark. ClassNK has announced its final register statistics for 2011, revealing that almost 23 million gross tons were added to the class society’s register this past year. The announcement came following a meeting of the Society’s Classification Committee, which confirmed that 781 vessels totaling 22,666,948 gross tons were added to the ClassNK Register during 2011. This number substantially improves upon the record set by the Society for new registrations in 2010 by 3,016,462 gross tons.

ClassNK Sets New Record for Class Entries

ClassNK announced its final register statistics for 2010, revealing that nearly 20 million gross tons were added to the class society’s register this past year. The announcement came following a meeting of the Society’s Classification Committee, which certified that 664 vessels totaling 19,650,486 gross tons were added to the ClassNK Register in 2010. The number marks a new record for the Society, surpassing its previous record for new registrations of 18,494,843 gross tons set in 2009. As in previous years, newbuildings made up the majority of the additions to the ClassNK Register accounting for 88.1% (585 vessels) of all new additions on a vessel basis and 90.6% (17,807,446 gross tons) of all tonnage added to the register in 2010.

ClassNK Register Surpasses 150 mgt Mark

Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, also known as ClassNK, announced that the total tonnage of the ships on its register surpassed the 150 million gross ton mark for the first time ever this month. This is the first time that any ship classification society has attained this mark. The Classification Committee officially confirmed that the Society had 6,729 ships with a total of 150,048,643 gross tons on its register as of the end of August 2007. The register saw a net increase of 916,304 gross tons for the month, resulting in the total gross tonnage under NK class surpassing the 150 million mark for the first time ever.
