ISS Announces CEO Transition

Captain Claus Hyldager yesterday decided to step down as the Chief Executive Officer of Inchcape Shipping Services (“ISS”). The current Chief Financial Officer, Chris Whiteside, has been appointed as acting Chief Executive Officer. Captain Claus Hyldager is now serving a period of garden leave and will assist with an orderly handover. A special committee of the ISS Board will oversee the search for a permanent CEO with the assistance of a leading executive search firm. ISS Marks 100,000th Hub Appointment

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has marked a milestone with its 100,000th hub appointment for Maersk Tankers. For the past week, ISS staff across the company’s global network have been actively following vessel activities to see which tanker would take the golden ticket. Three vessels appeared to be front runners, with ISS handling the Nordic Ruth, as she transited the Bosporus in Turkey; managing a husbandry call for the Maersk Princess at OPL in Singapore; and finally the Maersk Messina, making a discharge call at the Wakayama oil terminal in Japan.

Inchcape Shipping Celebrates 25th Anniversary of ISS Greece

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world’s leading maritime services provider, has this month celebrated the 25th anniversary of its operations in Greece by hosting its annual senior management conference in Athens, close to the company’s Greek head office in the Port of Piraeus. Over 170 ISS employees, including the entire senior management team, congregated to enjoy three days of strategic development activity, events, networking and customer engagement. The packed three day agenda featured a number of highlights including the announcement of the ISS Employee of the Year 2014, presented by ISS’ Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr John Coghlan, to Richard Reyes of ISS GMT, Manila.

ISS Acquisition of Merkez Strengthens Turkey Cruise Capability

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a maritime services provider, has acquired the Turkish cruise agency specialist Merkez Deniz Acenteligi ve Ticaret A.S (Merkez). Merkez is one of the most established agency houses in the Turkish shipping community and it is today a market-leading cruise sector specialist with offices in the major cruise ports of Istanbul and Kusadasi. ISS already has a strong existing presence in Turkey and this acquisition will assist the further development and growth of its business at an exciting period of development in this country. Turkey continues to attract more passengers year on year as the government actively promotes the country as a cruise destination. With new cruise terminals and airport expansion planned, these numbers are expected to continue to grow.

ISS Celebrates ISO Accreditation in M.East and Africa

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world’s leading maritime services provider, is celebrating the awards of ISO 22000:2005 – Food Safety Management System and ISO 9001:2008 for the company’s supply chain operations in Dubai, Mombasa and Mogadishu. Ceremonies recently took place at its global headquarters in the UK and in its regional Head Office in Dubai. As a pre-requisite to fulfilling the requirements of a three year (plus two year option) contract with the United Nations to supply the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), ISS had to meet a number of operational criteria relating to the procurement, supply chain management, transportation, warehousing and distribution of food to the Mission.

Durnan Appointed Senior Vice President at ISS

Maritime services provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced the appointment of Captain Michael Durnan, U.S. Navy (Retired) as Senior Vice President, Remote and Government Services. Reporting to Jan-Hein Dissel, COO of Supply Chain Solutions at ISS, he will head up an experienced business development and operations team based in Dubai. Captain Durnan was commissioned as a Naval Officer in 1978 and spent his career serving on various U.S. Navy ships. His final at-sea posting was as the first Commanding Officer of USS Oak Hill which deployed to the Mediterranean theatre.

Claus Hyldager was earlier the originator of the ISS Lighthouse Relay Voyage, a major Corporate Social Responsibility initiative benefiting disadvantaged communities in all the countries around the world where ISS does business.

Inchcape Shipping Services Opens Mauritius Office

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has expanded its operations into Mauritius, with the acquisition of Belship Co Ltd. Renamed ISS Belship, this opening marks ISS’ first venture in the country and is based in the capital, Port-Louis. Belship Co Ltd was founded in 1996 and ISS Belship will continue to offer established services including marine and offshore agency, logistics and freight forwarding, as well as introducing a wider portfolio of global service offerings. The ISS Belship team in Port Louis is headed by General Manager Arnaud Teycheney, who was a former shareholder of Belship and is loyally supported by his team of experienced staff. Inchape Acquires FMS

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has fully acquired Fawley-based agency Furness Marine Services Ltd (FMS), the second major acquisition it has completed in 2004. ISS is now 12 months into its two-year plan to double the size of its business through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Following last month’s acquisition of the Ancon depot facility in the Port of Antwerp and several mergers and acquisitions completed in 2003, that plan is well on schedule to be met or exceeded within the expected timeframe. Independent shipping agency FMS was the result of a management buyout of Furness Withy Agency in 1993. Furness Withy had held a contract with Esso since 1985 and FMS has continued working with the international oil and gas major ever since.
