Atlantis Tankers Orders 10 Optimarin BWTS

Optimarin has consolidated its position within the EX approved ballast water treatment (BWT) segment with a 10 vessel contract from Atlantis Tankers Group and its management arm Armona Denizcilik, the company announced. The Norwegian BWT specialist will now provide its solution to two newbuildings and the eight existing vessels in the Turkish controlled fleet. Optimarin is the first UV system supplier to pass the USCG’s marine water tests, with full USCG approval expected this spring.

New Tanker Stena Imperial Named in Savannah

A new 50,000 DWT MR chemical and product tanker based on the IMOIIMAX concept, Stena Imperial, was named yesterday in Savannah, Ga. Built by Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) and delivered on July 1, Stena Imperial recently arrived in Savannah on the U.S. East Coast with a cargo of palm oil. The new ship is owned by a joint venture of which Stena Bulk and Indonesian Golden Agri Resources (GAR) each own 50 percent. She is the third of 10 vessels ordered by Stena Bulk for a total of $400 million with delivery to be completed by 2017.

IMOIIMAX Stena Impression named in Singapore

The first of Stena Bulk's $400M, ten-vessel order was named in Singapore yesterday. The Stena Impression is a IMOIIMAX 50,000 DWT MR chemical tanker owned by Stena Bulk and Indonesian's Golden Agri Resources (GAR). The ten ordered vessels will be operated by Stena Weco and will trade within the company’s logistical systems, which will include a fleet of more than 60 tankers. The IMOIIMAX tankers have been designed to transport both vegetable oils and chemicals, as well as clean and dirty petroleum products.

MN 100: LeBeouf Bros. Towing, LLC

LeBeouf Bros. Towing, LLC is one of the oldest marine towing companies operating the U.S. inland waterway system. Formed in the early 1940s by brothers Willard and Irvin LeBeouf, and joined in 1946 by Earl Gonsoulin, the company was purchased by the Gonsoulin family in 1968. Today LeBeouf Bros. is privately held and operated by Richard “Dickie” Gonsoulin and his son, Jon Gonsoulin, and continues to operate a growing fleet of inland boats and tank barges serving the petroleum and chemical industries on all major U.S. inland waterways.

EDCIS Order: Transas to Supply Twenty-Eight Ships

Transas Marine Denmark contracted by A/S to supply & install 28 Navi-Sailor 4000 Multifunction Display Dual ECDIS units. Transas is also to upgrade another six Eitzen Chemical vessels to the latest hardware and software ECDIS standards over the next two years. The package for each vessel includes 2 x 26" Hatteland monitors, RS6B computers, radar overlay and Firewall enabling a direct connection between the vessel's satellite communication equipment and the Transas ECDIS. After the installations, all vessels will run the unique "Pay As You Sail" chart concept from Transas.
