Infinium and Amogy Ink MOU on Green Ammonia and eFuels Solutions

Kongsberg Maritime and Norsepower Ink MoU

A Newbuild VLOC is the First Wind-powered Bulk Carrier

Brazilian miner Vale expects to soon put into service the first-ever bulk carrier propelled partially sails, the company said on Thursday.The rotor sail-equipped newbuild, a very large ore carrier (VLOC) named Sea Zhoushan, is being built in China for owner by Pan Ocean Ship Management and will be chartered by Vale upon delivery in the coming days. Not only is Sea Zhoushan the first bulk carrier to be fitted with rotor sails, the 340-meter, 325,000 dwt vessel is also the largest ship ever to be outfitted with the fuel-saving and emissions-reducing technology…

Industry Task Force Pushes for Decarbonization Urgency

Global Maritime Forum, Carbon War Room, the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC), and University College London (UCL) has announced the launch of a Task Force on Decarbonizing Shipping. This industry-led initiative will develop tangible pathways for shipping’s decarbonization through five working groups, each focussed on a key area of the industry. Outcomes of the task force will be presented at the Global Maritime Forum’s inaugural summit in October 2018. The Task Force on Decarbonizing Shipping will bring together leaders and experts from across the maritime industry to develop and mobilize the industry along tangible pathways aligned with ambitious, science-based emission reduction targets.

Milestone Renewable Contract for Expro

Expro Connectors & Measurements’ new renewable division has been awarded an important order by Alstom. Expro Connectors & Measurements (C&M) partners with Alstom to develop a cable connection and management system to be deployed on one of Alstom’s ocean energy projects, thus contributing to Alstom’s development of clean technology solutions to harness the energy potential of the world’s oceans. Expro will be supplying its SpecTRON, DigiTRON and FoeTRON wet mateable products alongside a cable connection system and termination head as well as cable protection and aftermarket services for site cable termination. This system will provide the subsea connection between the power export cable and the energy converter device.
