Crowley Logistics Hires Bennett as SVP, GM

Korea Line Buys $31.4m Biz from Hanjin Shipping
South Korea's Hanjin Shipping Co Ltd will sell part of its container ship business to Korea Line Corp for 37 billion Korean won ($31.38 million), reports Reuters. Korea Line will buy Hanjin's Pacific routes shipping business, relevant client management information, units in seven countries including the United States, China and Vietnam, as well as assets and manpower related to logistics systems, Hanjin said in a regulatory filing. Hanjin said the sale, which will be completed on Jan. 5, 2017, is to secure funds to pay off creditors. Hanjin applied for court receivership in late August after banks denied further financial support for the troubled shipper.
Delta Marine Workboat is a Windfarm Winner
Delta Marine said its vessel Whalsa Lass has demonstrated its versatility during recently completed works on the large windfarm off the coast of Grimsby, U.K. for one of the âBig 6â energy contractors. The windfarm consists of 73 Vesta V112 3MW turbines located in water depths of some 15 meters and is now providing electricity sufficient to power up to 170,000 homes. When the Shetland based operator chartered its Damen 2611 Multicat for a basic remit to serve as anchor handler for the cable laying vessel it had no idea what further scope of services the vessel would be called upon to perform.
Allianz Launch New Seafarers' Health Insurance Plan
Global health insurer Allianz Worldwide Care say they have launched a new plan which offers a compliant solution for on-shore health care to shipping companies affected by the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC 2006), commonly known as the âSeafarersâ Bill of Rightsâ. MLC 2006, which came into force in August 2013, requires shipping companies to provide comprehensive rights and protection to the worldâs 1.2 million seafarers, including the provision of a minimum level of healthcare cover.
