LAGCOE Announces 2013 Officers

Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE) appointed its 2013 officers, according to LAGCOE Executive Director Angela Cring. Kirby Arceneaux has been named 2013 LAGCOE Chairman. Since 2001, Arceneaux has been an active contributor to the success of LAGCOE, serving continuously in leadership roles on Public Relations, Exhibit Judges and Executive Committees as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Arceneaux is Chairman of Environmental Drilling Solutions, LLC, a solids control/waste management firm based in Lafayette, La., with operations in many of the shale plays across North America. Central Gulf of Mexico Sale Nets $159.1 Million

The U.S. Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) announced the completion of the two-phase bid evaluation process for Lease Sale 172. This sale, held March 17, 1999, received 272 bids on 207 tracts offshore Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Of the 207 high bids received, MMS rejected 16 high bids totaling $12.7 million as insufficient for fair market value. Two of the tracts are located on the shelf and 14 tracts are located in deepwater. As a result, MMS awarded $159.1 million in high bids. Sonat Exploration GOM Inc. Chiles Offshore Enters Into Arrangement

Chiles Offshore LLC has begun a bareboat charter arrangement with Perforadora Central of Mexico City, who is the owner of the Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit, Tonala. Designed by LeTourneau, Tonala is a super 116-C cantilever jackup able to work in up to 350 ft. of water, built for Perforadora by TDI Halter Marine. Completed this past January, Tonala is expected to enter service in mid-March 2000, where it will commence a contract with CNG Producing Company to drill two wells in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico over the course of 60 days.
