A Corpus Christi crew boat runs with renewed power and graceMiss Vivian has a commanding presence while plying the waters off the Texas Gulf Coast.Hardworking crew boat Miss Vivian serves offshore oil platforms and large ships moored in Corpus Christi Harbor. Owned by Sea Level Marine, Inc., in Aransas Pass, Texas, the 28-meter (91-foot) welded aluminum vessel is U.S. Coast Guard-approved for 50 passengers, and its 15x5-meter (50x15-foot) deck offers ample space to transport food provisions, equipment, and other supplies to offshore locations.Thereā€™s a rather heroic side to Miss Vivian, too.

Kirby Corp. Announces Record Results

Kirby Corporation reported that for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2000, net earnings were a record $9,088,000, compared with $3,974,000 for the 1999 fourth quarter. For the 2000 year, net earnings were $34,113,000, up from $21,441,000 in 1999. Joe Pyne, Kirby's President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "The 2000 fourth quarter net earnings of $.38 per share and 2000 year net earnings of $1.39 per share are record results for Kirby. Our EBITDA results of $33,615,000, or $1.39 per share, for the 2000 fourth quarter and $130,132,000, or $5.30 per share, for the 2000 year are also a record. Revenues for the 2000 fourth quarter and year were at record levels as well. This performance reflects the continuing benefits of the successful integration of Kirby and Hollywood Marine.

CEECO Gets Coast Guard Contract

Horne International, Inc. announced that the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) awarded a contract to Coast Engine & Equipment Company, Inc. (CEECO) to undertake renovations and repairs on the William Tate, a USCG buoy tender. The estimated value of the contract is $312,000. CEECO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Horne International, a leading program engineering and technology solutions company. Based in Cape Canaveral, Florida, CEECO provides specialized fabrication and maintenance support for ship and maritime navigation systems for U.S. ports and waterways, as well as for industrial customers. CEECO Assists Restoration Efforts for Gulf Waterway Navigation

Spectrum Sciences & Software Holdings Corp. announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Coast Engine and Equipment Company (CEECO), has been helping the U.S. Coast Guard rebuild portions of the waterway navigation system in the Mississippi River Delta damaged by Hurricane Katrina. This work, which has a total contract value of approximately $1.3 million, is expected to be completed in January 2006. CEECO has been building the mechanical structures for twenty-five ATON (aid to navigation) devices that house electronic equipment used to mark navigable channels and hazards. Without ATON devices, cargo, naval, and recreational vessels cannot safely move through the waters. CEECO's work has been part of the emergency effort to restore the ATON system to pre-hurricane conditions.
