SWIVEL unveils a Logistics Control Tower

SWIVEL Software announced, at the 3PL Value Creation Asia Summit in Hong Kong,  the launch of SWIVEL 360, a Logistics Control Tower that can provide both visibility and transparency between all parties in the supply chain. With SWIVEL 360, all parties can get real time alerts and search the status of a shipment based on SKU or item code, purchase order, bill of lading, container, or customer. Case Study: CAD/CAM for Naval Refit

The ANZAC Class is a ship class of 10 frigates: eight operated by the Royal Australian Navy and two operated by the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN). They have an overall length of 118 meters and a displacement of around 3,800 tons. In 2014, New Zealand ordered extensive modernizations to its frigates’ core combat and related systems. This would require the integration of the Lockheed Martin CMS 330, integrated with radar improvements, MBDA’s independently-guided Sea Ceptor missiles and an extensive array of other modern equipment.

Shipbuilders Urged To Standardize Technology

Standardization on a common technology platform is a key component in creating a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry according to a submission to the Federal Government from ShipConstructor Software Inc. (SSI). To augment the work available under the Canadian Government’s proposed 30-year procurement plan and to facilitate sustainability into the future, domestic shipbuilders will most likely also have to export to the global commercial market. To effectively compete, this will require Canadian shipbuilders implement worldwide best practices and have access to a trained workforce.

J. Ray McDermott Deploys AVEVA's VNET

AVEVA has secured a contract to provide J. Ray McDermott, the international provider of solutions for offshore field development, with a collaboration portal that provides easy access to key engineering data. Built on AVEVA's VANTAGE NET (VNET) architecture, the portal will be used by more than 300 J. Ray McDermott personnel to support its work on projects in the Middle East. For the first time, project engineers will have web-based access to the 3D design models, 2D design deliverables and all the associated engineering documents that are core to the successful execution of the project. Powerful search functionality in the system allows users to quickly navigate linked documents, with key items clearly highlighted.
